Are you finding your mind lives consistently in the future or stresses over the past? Are you finding yourself revisiting the same thoughts over and over? Sometimes it can feel like our brains are working against us and the more we try and fight, the more they win. Together we can explore ways to help you work through some of this difficulty while finding ways to feel joyful and present. My primary area of focus is working with clients on anxiety, parenting concerns, unhealthy coping skills like self-medicating and relationship issues.

Therapy isn’t easy — and finding the right therapist can feel just as difficult. If you’ve landed here, something brought you to this moment, and I want you to know that taking this step takes courage. I’m a licensed therapist specializing in trauma-informed care, and my work is rooted in one core belief: your experiences deserve to be honored, not buried. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every person carries a unique story, and my role is to help you better understand yours — without judgment, pressure, or losing sight of who you are and who you want to become.

I believe each of us, deep down, hold our own answers to the issues we face. Sometimes we need an objective listener to ask new questions, suggest new skills, be supportive and coach us through tough times. Humans have a tremendous ability to handle the traumatic events in life. We build strategies to get us through the day. At some point, we might realize that these strategies no longer work and may even be causing more problems than they solve. This is when the support of a caring professional can help us find more efficient strategies to handle our lives.

Do you often feel overwhelmed with life's demands or disconnected from yourself and others? Are you a parent/caregiver worried about your children making healthy connections and thriving to be themselves in a world that criticizes uniqueness? Maybe you’re wanting to form better skills to effectively communicate your feelings to loved ones. You're wanting to feel seen, heard, and understood, but it seems like everywhere you turn, no one 'gets it.' Through a genuine therapy relationship, you can begin to identify your strengths rather than focusing on what you (or others) may consider to be shortcomings.

I began work as a therapist in Seattle over 25 years ago, working with families. My experience grew to include veterans, people in recovery, people of all genders - and ages! I am a certified Geriatric Mental Health Specialist, but today I work with ALL adults ages 22-100. I work from a collaborative mindset, working together alongside my individual clients to find solutions to life's challenges. I am fairly direct in my approach. I focus on individual therapy, but as a GMHS I also consult with families of older adults who may need more support. If you are unsure if therapy is for you, or if anything can help, please call.

Being multi-ethnic and growing up in San Diego, CA, I had the opportunity to interact with many diverse cultures. I am passionate about race, cultural, socioeconomic, and equity issues due to my personal experiences and empathizing with others’ experiences. The intersectionality of what makes us unique can also compound our lived experiences. I am committed to continuously learning about the impacts of marginalized communities and supporting those that are systemically oppressed.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
