I offers wholistic mental health care, including medication management, mindfulness therapy and ketamine therapy. I partner with clients to explore who they are in part by looking at the stories they have formed about themselves and their experiences. Our work together may include learning coping skills, identifying personal narratives and limiting beliefs, normalizing challenging experiences, understanding and accepting our different "parts", working with the somatic experiences of our emotions, building a supportive spiritual practice, etc. I believe in the thoughtful use of medications to support this work.

Let's get started. You can keep delaying getting help or just call me, so you can start getting some relief from your pain, confusion or fear. I provide psychotherapy and counseling for adults, teens, children and couples. A sign that therapy would be helpful is the presence of recurring pain in relationships, lack of intimacy, loss of friendships, work or career dissatisfaction, shame, physical symptoms or lack of meaning in your life.

Sometimes we struggle to express what we need or want out of life. Other times we may feel that we are not living up to expectations. We can get stuck in a loop of our negative thoughts and fears. Building a trusting relationship with a counselor can help you step out of these patterns and bring meaning to your struggles. I really want to know what it’s like to be you; not only your inner life but also how you belong in the world around you. Together we will explore the things that are important to you and move toward the change that you are looking for.

My practice is comprised of individuals and couples. I see adults, adolescents, and children who are managing a range of issues from anxiety and depression, to relationship issues, to trauma. The couples I work with are often struggling with feeling disconnected and unheard by their partner and are seeking help to regain connection in their relationship that has been compromised or lost over time.

We all have an image of our best self. This is the person we'd be if we just weren't so tired, so anxious, so angry or so depressed. I think about my work as the process of helping people to become who they already know they are - or could be. Our work together is to find out why you feel those things in the first place so you can move past them and start feeling happier, more productive and more connected to the life you want.

Mental health is varied and complex. Emotional pain can be overwhelming, frustrating, and confusing. Each person is unique and brings their own set of circumstances, their own past, thoughts, and experience to therapy. I see people who struggle from a variety of issues and symptoms. Some of these include depression, anxiety, panic attacks, paranoia, frustration, academic or work difficulties, relationship issues, communication issues, poor concentration and attention, sexual issues, and grief. This list is incomplete, but hopefully it opens up the range of things that can be talked about in therapy and worked with over time.

I enjoy my work with children, adolescents and families, and have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2005. I employ a variety of theoretical orientations and modalities, from attachment theories, family systems, object relations, cognitive behavioral therapy, and play and art therapy. Theory gives us a foundation to conceptualize, but it is the individual, context, and culture which inform our work.

My therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic in nature, and based on the observation that people are often unaware of unconscious influences that determine their thoughts and actions. Lack of awareness can often lead to behavior that constrains their ability to fully comprehend or work through the difficulties they are facing. My hope is to help remove problematic symptoms that prohibit individuals from participating in meaningful relationships with themselves and others, while working toward leading a full and productive life as an active and positive contributor to their community.

Being human was already challenging; the last few years have made it harder. Our old ways of coping may no longer work for us as we face old patterns and navigate new challenges. We are ready for less stress and more happiness, but aren't sure how to get there. I will support you to identify, explore, and remove obstacles to your wellbeing, unleashing your innate capacity for healing, resilience, and joy. I will not only guide you to awareness of yourself and others through a safe, supportive therapeutic alliance, but also offer you practical mindfulness tools, where appropriate to your understanding both in and out of session.

People can get stuck in painful emotional states and relationship patterns, for all kinds of reasons. I help people with chronic emotional pain, depression, anxiety, and the aftereffects of trauma and abuse. I focus on helping people work through sources of pain, and build their capacities for a satisfying life. In couples counseling, I help partners hear and understand each other in new ways, and create the space they need to thrive as both individuals and as partners in a relationship.

I use a variety of approaches ranging from cognitive reframing, exploration of defense mechanisms and automatic thoughts, training in mindfulness, bodily awareness, and examination of feelings, among others. I am interested in the ways in which we each determine our realities, what our minds say to us, and the insight that can be gained from examining those.

Serving the Needs of Parents. While it’s true that parenting is the hardest job you’ll ever love, you don’t have to go it alone. Have consequences stopped working leaving you at a loss in the face of difficult behaviors? Are your date night conversations only about your children? Do you find yourself repeating what your parents said to you and regretting it? Are you seeking a more peaceful co-parenting dynamic that puts your child first rather than past marital conflicts? Or maybe you are looking for ways to feel less haunted by your own childhood or past?
