I am a psychotherapist working with adults, young adults and couples. It is my belief that the more one's difficult emotional experiences can be expressed and talked through together, in a safe and engaging environment, the more helpful the therapeutic process can be. I assist my clients who are facing a wide range of issues including grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, vocational discernment and spiritual concerns in taking steps to live more satisfying lives.

In my practice I provide individual, family, and couples therapy to help adolescents and adults grow and change into the person they want to be. I support my clients through healing from abuse, divorce , domestic violence, behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and more. I am experienced in working with clients from the LGBTQ community, as well as those in non-traditional family/relationship structures. I have experience working with crisis intervention and assessments for hospitalizations. I currently do not take insurance but will provide a receipt for reimbursement from your insurance.

I offer expert help for struggling parents and families. For parents and caregivers, the issue might be eliminating disrespect and defiance; seeking a balance between work/family life; improving your relationship with your children; co-parenting after divorce ; single parenting; or, any other topic that prevents you from calm and confident parenting. For youth, coaching helps kids navigate the challenges in their lives, whether it be isolation, behavioral problems, emotional outbursts, hanging with the wrong crowd, or clarifying college and/or career plans. For families, coaching helps resolve conflicts and strengthen relationships.

We all find ourselves in circumstances at one time or another that call for adjusting to change or making decisions, whether it's charting a path through grief and loss, developmental transitions, job loss, recovering from trauma or the challenges of parenting. Therapy can be helpful in sorting through confusing thoughts and feelings, gaining insight, establishing a course of action amongst different choices, and building confidence through experiencing a deeper understanding of yourself, all in the context of a caring relationship.

I have been in the mental health field for the past 30 years. I can be helpful to folks with severe symptoms commonly associated with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe depression and anxiety. I understand the complex nature of these experiences and can help individuals maintain jobs, relationships and activities. I have experience as counselor and program director in community mental health programs in Oregon, Missouri and Washington. I understand how difficult the system resources can be and can help you problem solve them. I received my M.S. from Southern Oregon University.

Sometimes in life people lose a sense of who they truly are and seek to find what more accurately reflects them. I believe our most painful times are often the times we grow and develop into who we are meant to be. I work with people who are struggling to deal with trauma and life transitions, including (but not limited to) parenthood, divorce , and relational and religious trauma experiences. I believe that attachment and trauma are at the core of many of our issues and anxieties. Our past traumas have a way of working themselves into our present and disrupting our lives and our joy. Often, these disruptions are our body’s way of asking us to work through the broken stories of our past so that we can move forward and truly enjoy life.

At the core of my treatment philosophy is the belief that families heal when movement occurs and people begin to step out of their comfort zones to unlock their potential and capacity for growth. Often there is underlying pain and/or trauma that needs to be addressed in order for the system to recover and break the cycle. Whether the results of the family dysfunction is abuse, addiction, estrangement, divorce , suicide, broken communication paths, or some other behavior, treatment can provide relief.
