I believe that therapy can benefit all of us. It helps to reduce stress and can improve our overall quality of life. If you are experiencing difficulties with mood, anxiety,
anger
, trauma or grief, I may be able help. In my experience, the most important aspect of therapy is the building of rapport between you and your therapist. With this in mind, I focus first on listening, being curious and respecting the fact that the people who I work with are the experts on their own lives. With a foundation of understanding then in place, we can work on achieving your individual goals.

I work with men who struggle to manage
anger
, who are struggling to create and maintain emotional and relational intimacy, and men who are finding it hard to manage work stress, anxiety, and depression.
I seek to create a warm, down-to-earth, and accepting experience for you to explore the hard-ass things in life. Many of us, myself included, were rarely taught how to connect with and understand our emotions, and so when we experience difficult feelings like shame, fear, and pain, we don’t know how to engage them in a helpful way. But that can change. We will work together to promote positive change and restore direction, meaning, and resilience during these difficult times. We will be teammates in our work together.

I work with teens and adults who are in search of relief from stress, anxiety, panic,
anger
, low-self-esteem, depression, and relationship issues such as codependency. In my practice, I recognize that being human is complex. Big and small traumas can hold someone back from taking care of themselves, seeing their potential, forming meaningful relationships, taking aligned risks, and living an authentic life. If you are interested in getting to the root of lifelong patterns and emotional triggers that are keeping you from living your best life, then I would love to join you on your healing journey.

I teach specific, applicable coping skills of stress management; emotional /
anger management
; communication skills including conflict resolution; decision making processes; assertiveness training; esteem cultivation and identity development boundary establishment AND enforcement.
I tend to be more pragmatic, excelling in the "Now What?" stage. I am solution-focused and action-oriented providing applicable skills and cognitive understanding of "why do I behave the way I do?!". Yet I have been successful with even the resistant clientele by providing patience for their trust development, a judgment free arena, and pacing with the clients' personal momentum. I have already worked in two different private practices since my graduation from Seattle Pacific University back in 2006, right here in Edmonds, Washington. I have gleaned enough experience and confidence to provide you a mental health service to trust.

I work with adults 21+ across the gender spectrum around issues of identity achievement, performance,
anger
, trauma and abuse, and relationships.
Sometimes the areas that need the most care inside each of us remain unknown or clouded. As a result your sense of belonging, purpose, and connection in your life and relationships may feel far away and you may find yourself looking externally to feel alive or a sense of belonging, purpose, or value. You may feel anxious, panicked, angry, burned out, resentful, lonely, or even hopeless. If you have been unsuccessfully trying to carry these parts of yourself alone or perhaps trying to hide them through working harder, achieving more, or trying to be better, we may connect well together in therapy.

So often, the stigma surrounding mental health issues and therapy prevents individuals from seeking help. As a Black, Queer woman living in the PNW, the hardest part of getting help, for me, was finding the right person. I hope to ease that search, for you, as I am committed to providing support to marginalized identities such as LGBTQIA+, differently-abled, Neurodivergent, Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color. My mission is to empower individuals to move past their obstacles through trauma-focused compassion work, and holistic review of physical, mental, and spiritual health.

I have been honored that people have felt comfortable and safe enough in sessions to discuss their most private experiences and thoughts. People often come to see me because they're struggling to keep up with their obligations between family, career, friends, and their own self care. The frustrations sour feelings toward work and relationships. Loved ones start to notice that your temperament is not the same - you're crankier or more aloof. You may feel lonely and disconnected. Sometimes you don't even know what got you upset in the first place.

I enjoy working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and concerns. Are you experiencing depression, anxiety, life stressors, work or relationship dissatisfaction, grief, the impact from trauma, trouble adjusting to life transitions or illness, sleep problems, OCD, phobias, substance use issues or some other problem? I want to help you reach your optimal health, which may include both mental and physical health goals. I know it can be difficult to share such personal experiences with a new person, so it’s important to me to create a trusting bond to work on your concerns.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
