I practice both in person from West Seattle and via telehealth with clients throughout Washington. I work with adults, couples, and adolescents dealing with a problem in living. I specialize in working with: recovery from anxiety or depression; addressing conflict or dissatisfaction in one’s intimate or family relationships; alcohol or drug use, or another form of addiction; and processing and healing physically or emotionally traumatic experiences, whether from childhood or current. My experiences have fostered in me the belief that change can happen for anyone.

As a therapist, my mission is to help individuals find the strength and resources within themselves to gain insight, enhance their ability to engage in interpersonal relationships, and regain control of their lives. Working collaboratively, we will establish goals, develop a path toward achieving them, and confront obstacles to change and develop personalized tools and skills. I have dedicated my decade-long career to helping individuals navigate the complexities of sexual health, intimacy, and relationship dynamics, in addition to empowering clients to manage and overcome their struggles with anxiety, OCD and low self-confidence.

Although I was initially trained in psychodynamic and attachment theory, we may incorporate any of several clinical approaches. What suits the client's needs and preferences is key. I am Toni Napoli, Director and founder of Counseling West Seattle. I have been in private practice since 1995. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has spent the past thirty years providing the best comprehensive care to my clients. My professional orientation is very eclectic. I combine a Jungian philosophy with CBT and DBT interventions with a client centered approach that involves a caring and insightful focus on self, others and community. My intention is to collaborate fully with each individual and to assist him or her in changing the trajectory of his or her life in a positive way. I view self discovery as an essential part of our unfolding experience together and value our time together. I have been in the behavioral health field for 35 years. I have experience as a counselor, case manager, supervisor in community mental health programs in Oregon, Missouri and Washington. I developed and taught a post-divorce and parenting program. I have spoken to thousands of individuals throughout my career via workshops and seminars on parenting, relationships, and crisis intervention. I have taught Mental Health First Aid courses in Washington and in Hawaii. I believe in the Japanese proverb “Fall seven times, Stand up eight” and strive to keep you standing through difficult situations.

Our primary focus is working with athletes and other high performers, but we also work with families, adults and clients that deal with medical issues or chronic pain. I am dually licensed in mental health and addiction issues. This dual licensing provides me with the skills and experience to work with individuals struggling with addiction related issues and mental health issues such as recovery from depression and anxiety. Although I have a license in chemical dependency, a great deal of my client's have come to me seeking support in areas that are not addiction related. My areas of specialty include co-occurring issues, relational issues, female specific issues, ACOA issues, codependency, and depression & anxiety issues, life transitional issues, self-esteem work, and grief and loss issues.

Life tends to show up whether we are ready or not, and I specialize in helping individuals process and deal with those situations. I understand the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship that is genuine and promotes growth. My ideal client will value my supportive yet direct approach as they are ready to make changes in their lives and be the best version of themselves.
