My therapeutic approach is applied through an anti-oppressive and culturally responsive lens, and my primary modalities include attachment-based therapy, depth psychotherapy, somatic -based therapies, internal family systems, and nature therapy.
If you're considering therapy, you're already taking a brave step toward growth and self-discovery. Some areas of focus in my practice include gender identity exploration, adults with ADHD, processing childhood trauma, healing attachment wounds, and improving relationships. We will work together using a variety of evidence-based practices: emotionally focused therapy, the developmental model of couples therapy, mindfulness practices, polyvagal theory, the Incredible Years parenting program, focusing ( somatic therapy) and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Relationships can be hard, especially the parenting one. My style of therapy is based on the latest research in how the brain (neuroscience geek!), body, and emotions work together. For 20 years, I've partnered with individuals and couples, facilitating thriving relationships: parent-child, partners, co-parenting couples, divorcing couples. The most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves. I can help you explore relational wounds and teach you new skills to experience more satisfying relationships. Let's talk and see if we're a good fit.

I utilize an eclectic mix of interventions from different somatic and trauma-informed modalities (EMDR) to help each person understand and address the struggles that keep them from being able to change and heal in life.
"The Glory of God is a human being fully alive". Saint Irenaeus As a clinician, I work with individuals struggling with a variety of issues including relationships, anxiety, depression, addiction, food/body/movement issues, anger, and grief. More often than not, all of these mental health struggles are actually indicators of a deeper issue. They are just symptoms that we will work diligently to understand and "grow up" as we see their purpose and function in your life and relationships. If you are continually fighting the same battle against a part of yourself, come and see me!

I use Emotionally focused, Somatic & Mindfulness to support women in processing grief, anxiety and unprocessed emotions that may be showing up in your daily habits and routines.
I help women entrepreneurs and healers who struggle with co-dependency and an over developed sense of responsibility for others. Codependency is often linked to fear which influences how we speak and respond to business as well as personal decisions. I use reflective inquiry, somatic approach and mindfulness to explore and move out of anxiety and fear informed thinking and responding. We can collaborate to find a routine in responding, noticing and expressing your truest self that positively protects your energy and over time brings peace and abundance to your entire life.

My approach is deeply relational, psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, based in attachment and family systems theory, Somatic Experiencing, and Energy Fluency therapy.
Seeking therapy can be a daunting process, while also being one step toward greater wholeness/healing. Relationship is where we are both wounded and healed. I work with individuals seeking relief from distressing symptoms such as; demanding too much of yourself, finding it hard to trust self, your experience, your mind, self-soothing through addictive behaviors, pleasing others at your own expense, anxiety, depression, PTSD. Our patterns of relating develop early within our first attachments, so our journey might include visiting some of those relationships to wonder how they impact you in the here and now.

I incorporate components of the Health at Every Size (HAES) model and I am currently studying Somatic Experiencing.
As both a therapist and yoga teacher, I believe we have the capacity to access our own inner knowing and sense of awareness. Sometimes we just need some redirection about how to get there. I believe in a compassionate approach to therapy, which expands resiliency, encourages self-agency, and invites discovery.

My approach integrates mindfulness-based stress reduction, narrative therapy, compassion focused therapy, nature therapy, somatic therapy, and third wave behavioral therapies such as ACT.
It is my goal to foster psychological flexibility, personal accountability, congruence, and access to life force energy for the people that I am serving. It is not my agenda to change people or their experiences of life but rather to increase their capacity to have a full range of experience. It is my hope that ultimately when people gain a bird's eye perspective of themselves that they will rest in self compassion for themselves and ultimately be free to be their authentic selves and recognize their wholeness. By weaving curiosity, openness, acceptance and love into the therapeutic process we can begin healing.

Over the past six years, it has been such a pleasure walking with my clients through their journeys of healing and change. I have had the privilege of sitting with parents struggling through the heartache of divorce, immigrants and children of immigrants who are making a home against all odds, college students fighting dominant culture norms, survivors of marital abuse, and those fighting to escape their childhood trauma. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in education and non-profits in India, and I am astounded, then and now, by the human capacity for resilience and strength in the face of hardship.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
