The decision to pursue therapy is a difficult one and I congratulate you on beginning your search to find the therapist that is right for you. My approach to therapy is based on the belief that each person has an innate ability to achieve healing and personal growth. I believe each existence is unique, and because of our experiences, the impact of society, and the ways in which our environments contribute to shaping who we are, we all walk through the world differently. By creating a safe space where you can be yourself, I will meet you where you are.

I work from an anti-oppression, inclusive-feminist lens. I believe that counseling is a journey to self-discovery that you are choosing to stop taking alone. Everything you need is already within you; sometimes it just takes a little guidance -- someone to walk the path with you -- to really make the changes you want to make in your life. I specialize in clients under the "Big Rainbow Umbrella" (LGBTQIA+), trans/non-binary, non-monogamy, and kink/BDSM.

I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients, helping each to develop the specific and unique tools necessary to cultivate a more satisfying and fulfilling life. My approach is to first actively listen, gaining a thorough understanding of the history of the situation and symptoms, the presenting challenges, and any other influences such as family history, cultural or racial factors, chronic illness, and economic stressors. We will then work together to identify treatment goals and ways to reach them. I work with a broad spectrum of clients ranging in age from 16 and above, offering individual, couples, and family therapy.

Have you been trying to build intimate connections with your partner/s but your chronic illness is making it difficult? Do you feel like you don’t have the words to communicate what you’re experiencing with the people in your life? This can be anxiety provoking and is common with people trying to navigate life after an acquired invisible disability. Unfortunately, avoiding the issue can cause resentment which can lead to long-term problems. This is where an empathic and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship can help develop the tools needed to have intimate conversations and self-reflect what you need.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing therapy and consultation for individual clients in West Seattle. I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach to working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or facing difficult life transitions. Sometimes therapy can be about seeking solutions to problems; often the more important work is in creating space to sit with and digest the parts of our experience that we generally try to avoid.

I help women entrepreneurs and healers who struggle with co-dependency and an over developed sense of responsibility for others. Codependency is often linked to fear which influences how we speak and respond to business as well as personal decisions. I use reflective inquiry, somatic approach and mindfulness to explore and move out of anxiety and fear informed thinking and responding. We can collaborate to find a routine in responding, noticing and expressing your truest self that positively protects your energy and over time brings peace and abundance to your entire life.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
