Relationships are hard work. Navigating what you want from life while considering what your partner/partners may wish to do can be daunting. Having questions about your relationship? How about your sex life? Has the excitement of your relationship and sex life turned into a mundane list of chores to cross off? Wait ... what about passion!? Or Intimacy!? Or heaven forbid you might ask, "What if I want to try that new thing ...?" You are far from being alone with these thoughts. Most people ask these questions when they are in a relationship with others. That's why I am here: to help answer these questions in a supportive space.

It is difficult to deal with strong feelings of anger, guilt sadness, grief, fear, or worry on your own. At the same time, it can be extremely difficult to let others around you know when you need help. You may have even been told that you just need to "tough it out", and "deal with it" all on your own. I'm here to say that you don't have to. Managing difficult emotions is easier said than done when going through stressful situations such as losing a loved one, ending a relationship, or dealing with financial stress. I am here if you are ready to make positive changes in your life, and are tired of doing it alone.

If there’s anything my years of life experience have taught me, it’s that people only thrive when they are grounded in deep meaning and purpose. Yet deep meaning and purpose are only realized during profound trials and tribulations. As a therapist, I feel called to walk alongside individuals during their darkest moments, to help them find truth, beauty, and goodness. I’ve worked with individuals and couples in a variety of areas, integrating empathy, wisdom, and curiosity with proven therapeutic approaches to bring about authentic hope and healing.

You are in luck! Thankfully you no longer need to sift through anymore therapist profiles on this site, I assume you're looking for a competent therapist to help you deal with the various curve balls that existence throws at us. First off, life is hard & we need other people to help us through times when things fall apart. All of us have fears that most of us spend a lot of energy avoiding for good reason. But unfortunately avoidance can get in the way of our growth and compound our difficulties. Going about this alone can make our challenges even more difficult. We need someone with compassion/skillset to guide us through the BS

I have formalized training and experience in treating a variety of mental health conditions but have specialized in the following: anxiety, depression, mania, psychosis, stress, and trauma.
Individual therapy with me always begins by learning how to check-in with our nervous system to ensure we are creating a neutral and/or safe space that's required to begin to take a deeper look at what's underneath some of the challenging situations you may be responding to. Therapy is an insight-oriented process where we'll improve our ability to self-regulate and connect with others. I work from a polyvagal informed approach which is also known as the science of safety and connection. It's through this approach that we will begin to understand how your nervous system responds to cues of safety and danger.

¡Bienvenidos! Welcome! I’ve been in your shoes. Nervous about the idea of talking to a stranger about my feelings and emotions. It’s valid. As a therapy-goer myself (yes, therapists have therapists!), working on yourself is no easy process. We come with our own lived experiences, memories, trauma, and challenges. o why go on this intense roller-coaster ride filled with ups and downs, flips, twists and turns? Because you deserve to live out your life without the echoes from the past keeping you from living out your fullest potential.

Life sometimes presents with challenges and obstacles that seem impossible to get through. One may often times feel alone and that there's nowhere to turn; but there truly is. I look at the whole individual and their experience as unique and focus on helping the person reveal their true self; the person they always wanted to be.

When we feel that we belong to the world, then we can move through it with confidence and courage, open to growth and happiness. There are plenty of things to worry about as a kid, and today’s culture does not necessarily make it easier. But children do not have to go at it alone! Feelings of despair, loneliness, and inauthenticity are completely normal for many kids and young adults. No one lives alone with these feelings, even though it may feel this way. Through a genuine counseling relationship, kids can begin to believe much deeper in their strengths than in their shortcomings.

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
