Life can hurt. Set-backs, emotional pain, social awkwardness, fear of anger, shame or rejection can block that which we desire most-loving nurturing relationships, affirmation from others, and self-valuing. I have been helping individuals and couples better achieve those desires for 40+ years. I bring a long history of a variety of skills to a mutually created process.

Welcome. I offer Therapy for Healing from Complicated Pasts, Presents and Relationships. I help people with the difficult events and relationships in their lives: issues from childhood that are holding you back, a current difficulty with a partner or spouse, a divorce, or a trauma you don't want to carry alone anymore. You don't have to recount the worst things that have happened to you for therapy to work. We will start with where you want to be, how you want to feel and make a plan from there.

Life often asks us to choose: stay comfortable or be fully alive? If you feel stuck, your mind is likely doing its job—protecting you from pain. My goal is to help you shift from avoiding discomfort to moving toward what you truly value. We won’t fight to silence your inner critic or force positive thinking. Instead, we’ll practice making room for your whole experience—the messy and the meaningful—so it no longer dictates your choices. Together, through a process based approach, we’ll build the flexibility to unhook from old patterns and reconnect with a life that feels purposeful. We'll move at your pace, step by step.

Most of my clients are women carrying trauma woven into relationship — a partner's betrayal, a narcissistic parent, a mother who couldn't show up.
Therapy Intensives for High Achieving, Reflective Women Ready to Live with True Autonomy. You're an ambitious woman realizing the patterns that got you here can't take you forward. From the outside, things look impressive. From the inside, you're tired in a way that rest doesn't touch. The "not good enough" whisper never quite leaves. Maybe you're navigating betrayal, the erosion of a relationship, or the long shadow of a mother who couldn't show up. You've done a lot of personal work and still feel stuck between what you understand and feel and how you live.

As it turns out, "just don’t stress” isn’t very helpful, and “adulting” includes everything we should have been taught in grade school. Most people don't seek therapy because life is going exactly as planned. They come because they’re tired of just surviving and are ready to start living again. Pain has a way of rewriting the stories we tell ourselves. It can quietly change the way we see ourselves, others, and sometimes even God. But healing lets you write the next chapter by uncovering the person you’ve always been beneath survival mode, people pleasing, fear, stress, and self doubt.

As a licensed psychologist, I specialize in the assessment and treatment of personality disorders, including narcissistic, histrionic, borderline, antisocial, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders.
The initial sessions focus on achieving diagnostic clarity. It's essential to carefully distinguish personality disorders from personality issues, just as it is to differentiate between substance abuse and dependence, or between sexual addiction and other sexual concerns. Let's figure out what is going on to get you the treatment you need.

Seeking therapy can be a daunting process, while also being one step toward greater wholeness/healing. Relationship is where we are both wounded and healed. I work with individuals seeking relief from distressing symptoms such as; demanding too much of yourself, finding it hard to trust self, trust your own experience, self-soothing through addictive behaviors, pleasing others at your own expense, anxiety, depression, CPTSD. Our patterns of relating develop early within our first attachments, so our journey might include visiting some of those relationships to wonder how they impact you in the here and now.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
