I offer video and in person appointments in a peaceful environment shared with a trained and loving therapy dog named Amelia.
If you are interested in change and motivated to explore new ideas, you are in the right place. Here, we figure this out together and bring about changes that work now and for all the other challenges as you live your life fully and with intention. My goal is to help walk through what is in the way now and arm you with the ability and success to confidently work through all that life will give you moving forward. Respect and integrity are integral, and we do not shy away from the "tough stuff". And my buddy Amelia provides comfort in ways only a compassionate therapy dog can.

I see clients in-person in Renton, and virtually from anywhere in Washington.
I work with young adults, teens, and men who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to make meaningful changes. Many of my clients are carrying a lot on their own—stress, self‑doubt, or patterns that keep repeating despite their best efforts. I offer a warm, steady space where you can be honest and explore what’s really happening beneath the surface. Together, we identify what’s getting in the way and help you move toward a life that feels more grounded, intentional, and genuinely yours.

Hi, I’m Sydney! I’m a therapist with a Master’s degree in Social Work, and I specialize in supporting people navigating trauma, anxiety, women’s issues, and substance use. I work with teens (ages 16+) and adults. My goal is to create a supportive space where you can show up exactly as you are—without fear of judgment or criticism. I believe the heart of therapy lies in the relationship we build together, so I take the time to really get to know you and help you feel comfortable as we work toward healing and growth. I also enjoy incorporating humor within therapy as a humanizing tool to help build connection and foster resilience.

Services are offered by telehealth and in person.
You may be feeling that the strands of your life are unraveling and you want to make sense of it all. My private practice, Tapestry Therapy, is founded upon the belief that your life is like a tapestry, consisting of strands of stories that have been woven together to make one larger story. Our story is part of the larger tapestry of our family, race, culture, country and world. Through the work of therapy, we come to understand our stories and be empowered to decide how we will write future chapters. I utilize process therapy and Lifespan Integration, which is a somatic therapy, to help my clients reach their goals.

I offer in-person therapy in downtown Renton or online to anyone located in Washington State.
Do you struggle with an inner voice that tells you that you are failing or not enough? Is it difficult to identify what you want? Do you consistently prioritize others over yourself? We live in a world that bombards us with messages about who has value and who does not. We are told “just try harder” and things will change. My clients come to therapy because despite a commitment to this hustle for worth, they remain dissatisfied. They feel stuck and resonate with the idea of putting their life on hold until they lose the weight, get the promotion, etc. Many say they are ready for something different but aren't sure where to start.

We have many years of experience working with youth who are experiencing problems at school and at home. We work to get them to graduation and onto a path to a successful adult in their community. We also work with youth who are experimenting with drug and alcohol use.. We understand that substance abuse will stop any chances of success if not treated. We also work with youth with behavior issues. Many young people want to go on to college and they do not need any behavior incidence issues on their transcript. We get to the cause of the behavior and find ways to end them We also work with adults with home, work, and family issues. We work with both adult and juveniles who are court involved. Mistakes are made, and those mistakes do not have to define someone. We work to get clients back on the right path. Our years of work in schools getting students back on track is something we specialize in. Our work with courts is also an area of specialty. Minds and behaviors must change in order to succeed and we are here to help.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
