I'm not currently taking new clients. I have worked extensively with individuals who have experienced
trauma
throughout their lives. I work with clients to begin the healing process, and eventually work towards integrating these experiences so that the person feels whole and complete. There are many different stages of the healing process, from developing skills to handle the
trauma
and crisis through acceptance and processing. Through my own hardships, I have found lights that can guide the way through the darkness, and my goal is to blend my training and life experience to provide highly effective counseling.

I am currently accepting new clients - You have big dreams and big goals. You hold yourself to a high standard and are harder on yourself than anyone else. Others may not understand the weight of your role or the fears and challenges that come with it. Perhaps you have performed while carrying the heavy burdens of past traumas, pain, and loss. Do you feel unable to show up and live the way you want to at work or home? Does finding a work-life balance feel impossible? Do you look at others and wonder how they are doing it? I believe you deserve to heal from
trauma
and engage with what is truly important to you!

Trauma
and mental health struggles can keep us stuck in patterns that debilitate us internally and relationally. It is my goal to partner with you in getting un-stuck. My hope is for us to grow your capacity to live more fully, care more deeply, and love better. I work from a relational, psychodynamic framework which means that I believe we are harmed in relationships but can also heal in relationships. I work with adults and teens to help work through mental health struggles, addiction,
trauma
, and life's burdens.

Trauma
focused work needs tenderness, kindness, and compassion.
Healing occurs when there is an acknowledgement and readiness for help. None of us, as humans, walk this earth without wounds. But wounds are not the sole problem. It is how these wounds are tended to - often not tended to, and sometimes worse, which determines one's capacity to embrace and feel security within themselves and others. Tending to wounds, not forced healing, is the key mentality of individuals I work best with. Your wounds deserve the time they need to heal and healing requires medicine which is uncomfortable and requires effort. I work best with individuals who struggle with
PTSD
, anxiety, depression, self-insecurity,

Often the safest way we cope with the aftershock of childhood
trauma
and neglect is by creating a workable persona or "protector," fervently committed to keeping us safe by avoiding further emotional injury at any cost. As adults, daily challenges trigger our protective parts with anxiety-provoking situations that elicit reactive, shielding responses, and keep us stuck looping in repetitive cycles. While these protective defenses with their "never again" mantra have reliably sheltered our vulnerability in the past, today they function as painful reminders of lingering wounds and barriers to joyful, meaningful connection with others.

Accepting New Clients! Where have you come from, where are you now and where is it that you wish to go? I believe that each of our lives is an intricate interplay of many stories. We all have a unique and beautiful story to live and share, yet our story is not simply our own. We each exist and are formed by the interplay of our own stories, the stories of those who have helped us and harmed us, our stories of
trauma
, cultural stories, familial stories, and so on. Let's work together to discover the character you are in your life's story, what has shaped that character and empower the character you wish to be.

trauma
-informed and holistic perspective, taking into account all parts of your life and what contributes to your unique being.
You are enough, and I am here to support you. I understand what it is like to feel intense anxiety and deep depression. I can also relate to being a teenager who feels stressed, alone, different, and like no one gets it. If you are a survivor of
trauma
, I see you. I am here to listen compassionately and offer you powerful practices that cultivate calm, safety, and healing. As a family therapist, I also enjoy working alongside parents and teens to help strengthen relationships, rebuild trust, and learn how to communicate in a way that leaves each person feeling heard and respected. My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic and primarily informed by existential psychology, Jungian psychology, and
trauma
-informed approaches.
I am passionate about working with Asian Americans and the Chinese population. I have a lot of experience in helping international students and employees navigate life transitions and challenges. My clinical areas of specialty include personal growth and development, anxiety and depression, interpersonal problems, grief and loss issues,
trauma
, and stress-related problems. I believe the difficulties serve a purpose: to provide us the chance to reveal authenticity and completeness in our life. Life seems to be falling apart when you focus on the broken pieces. I will help you see how they will come together to form the whole.

You know those therapists who are so calming and soothing, and usually have one of those freaking awesome rock formations with streaming water behind them? Soooo... I'm not one of those therapists! First off, I just used the word "freaking" in my intro, and that's when I'm trying to be my most professional! Secondly, and more importantly, I'm just not into all the head bobbing and "uh huh, tell me more." I'm more of a "what's going on? Talk to me" kind of therapist. I am committed to creating a safe space for each client, whether you are feeling relationally drained, hopeless, in need of connection, or ready to process your story.

I help survivors of
trauma
and difficult childhoods cultivate a calm, congruent life. Survivors may feel emotions that seem out of place in the present moment, experiencing anxiety, depression or shame, have unusual medical issues, or perhaps trouble remembering past events. Difficulty in relationships, low self-esteem, attention issues, and problems trusting are common. If this sounds like your experience, please know it is possible to both release and integrate your past for a more fulfilled present.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
