If you struggle with anger, stress, and/or relationship conflict, I can help you understand what's going on and teach you effective, empowering, and expedient ways of growing stronger through your struggle. Remember, struggling is not the problem, struggling is a part of life, it's about learning to "struggle well." If you're tired of constantly struggling to understand; if the frustration is overwhelming; if your relationship, your job, or even your freedom is on the line, I can help.

Hello! So, you know those therapists who are calming, soothing, and usually have one of those freaking awesome rock formations with streaming water behind them? Yeah, well... I'm not one of those therapists! First off, I just used the word "freaking" in my intro, and that's when I'm trying to be my most professional self! Secondly, and more importantly, I'm just not into all the head bobbing and "tell me more." I'm more of a "Talk to me... what's going on?" kind of therapist. I will listen, and never judge you. I will laugh (and sometimes cry) with you, and I will use every therapeutic tool at my disposal to help you!

I help survivors of trauma and difficult childhoods cultivate a calm, congruent life. Survivors may feel emotions that seem out of place in the present moment, experiencing anxiety, depression or shame, have unusual medical issues, or perhaps trouble remembering past events. Difficulty in relationships, low self-esteem, attention issues, and problems trusting are common. If this sounds like your experience, please know it is possible to both release and integrate your past for a more fulfilled present.

You want closeness, honesty, and real connection, yet when it’s time to speak or let yourself be fully seen, something tightens and you hold back. You’re capable, reflective, and often the steady one for others, but old experiences still shape what you say, how carefully you say it, and what you leave unsaid. You may struggle to answer the simple question, “How are you, really?” taking care of others while your own needs stay unspoken. Over time, this can leave you feeling stuck or numb, wanting more depth, expression, and aliveness. In therapy, we slow these moments down so you can speak more freely and live more honestly.

If you’ve been taught directly or indirectly to carry everything on your own, reaching out can feel like breaking an unspoken rule. The stigma around seeking mental health support still lingers for many people, and it can make the first step feel heavier than it should. Often, those who begin therapy can’t quite name what they’re feeling. There’s simply a sense of shift, a question, or a growing tension between the life they’re living and the person they’re becoming. Even positive change can feel unsettling. Stress, relationship transitions, or an evolving sense of self can stir up old patterns or reveal new vulnerabilities.

Accepting new therapy patients - Are you an engineering, medical, finance, architecture, or legal professional that needs a therapist that understands your unique stresses? One that understands first hand the pressures of laboring under tight deadlines - or the frustrations of working hard but concerned about getting laid off – and who understands the difficulties of achieving work / life balance? If so, we would probably work well together. I am a psychologist with an undergraduate engineering degree from Brown. I was a staff member and a manager of large teams in Fortune 50 tech companies for 15 years before changing professions.

Some days, maybe even most days, you feel at war with yourself. You burn through all of your mental (and physical) energy just by convincing yourself to do the tasks that make you a “productive” person. Some days, you win that war and accomplish what you wanted; other days, you feel like you lost it and beat yourself up for not doing better. You may not know where to start because everything feels overwhelming and failure feels inevitable. You want your life to be different but don't have the confidence or skills to improve things.

You may appear capable and put-together on the outside while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or alone. Many of my clients are thoughtful, responsible adults who have spent years caring for others, over-functioning, or minimizing their own needs. They often feel stuck in repeating relationship patterns, people-pleasing, emotional exhaustion, or persistent anxiety despite trying hard to cope. You may be highly self-aware, still feel pulled into the same dynamics, unsure how to change them. If you’ve done therapy before but sense something deeper remains unresolved, you may be ready for a more focused trauma-informed approach.

Domestic Abuse Therapists
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
