I believe an open, collaborative, playful, and genuine approach in psychotherapy is fundamental for your empowerment and safety in the therapeutic relationship – something essential for reconnecting you to the ease and strength already present in your body.
I help survivors of trauma and difficult childhoods cultivate a calm, congruent life. Survivors may feel emotions that seem out of place in the present moment, experiencing anxiety, depression or shame, have unusual medical issues, or perhaps trouble remembering past events. Difficulty in relationships, low self-esteem, attention issues, and problems trusting are common. If this sounds like your experience, please know it is possible to both release and integrate your past for a more fulfilled present.

While many may hope to attain a quick solution to their struggles through the work of therapy, it is my ultimate goal that the psychological treatment facilitates healing through meaningful self-discovery. As a therapist, I strive to be a witness to stories you may have never told anyone before, including yourself. Every part of your life presents its own uniqueness and complexity. I believe that the inherent safety and trust found within the therapeutic relationship are paramount as therapist and patient embark on this exploration of your past and present experiences.

There are specific, evidence-based strategies that can help rebuild your relationship with your loved one while also encouraging them to explore support or treatment.
If you have found your way to my profile, you are likely impacted by a loved one’s substance use and have determined that a new perspective may be beneficial. You may have felt confusion, frustration, exhaustion, and fear while combating this issue alone. Maybe you have tried getting direction from friends or other supporters, but nothing feels quite right. These feelings are often compounded as we do our own research on what it is the “correct approach”, leaving you with more questions than answers or adding to the guilt that you can’t seem to manage this on your own.

They can learn emotion regulation and healthy relationship skills.
I see tweens, teens, college students, adults, and parents: One of the hardest things as a parent is watching your child/teen suffer, whether it be from anxiety, OCD, depression, intense emotion, or social challenges. You want to support your child but feel at a loss. You may feel like the tools you've used for parenting and connecting with your child no longer work. Navigating the demands on your time and the emotions of your child feels impossible. You're suffering, too.

Thanks for your interest in my profile. As a marriage and family therapist, I am specifically trained to see couples and families, but I very much enjoy working with individuals as well. Developing insight towards learning how to love others and be loved by others is the key to building healthy, connected relationships. If you are finding that you are struggling in maintaining or developing relationships with others, if you have experienced betrayal, or if you struggle to maintain connection with others, especially your partners, then I am the therapist you are looking for. I also enjoy working with a variety of individual issues.

This can include anxiety, depression, parenting, work stress, relationship challenges, transitions in personal life or career, and also finding meaning and the strength to meet your life goals.
6/1/22: Not currently accepting patients. Life is hard. From racing thoughts and self-doubt, to fear of failure and imposter syndrome, we may feel uncertain about the way forward, and helpless in our rumination about a painful past. Often, we do this while pretending to be doing great. This is not an unusual struggle, but rather a listing of ordinary human experiences. Life is hard. It can also be rich and meaningful when we are present in our lives and in touch with what matters most.

Whether you have something specific you desire help navigating, or you simply just feel stuck in behaviors and thought patterns, it would be an honor for me to partner with you in finding growth, solutions, and healing.
In a blaring, often confusing world, it is easy to become paralyzed by expectations from within and from others. In our paralysis, we numb disappointment and pain with distractions such as addictions, isolation, unwanted sexual experiences, and other behaviors that betray who we really are and who we want to become still. We become slaves to the automatic thoughts, feelings, urges, memories, and other inner experiences that tell us to betray who God has made us to be.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
