I help survivors of trauma and difficult childhoods cultivate a calm, congruent life. Survivors may feel emotions that seem out of place in the present moment, experiencing anxiety , depression or shame, have unusual medical issues, or perhaps trouble remembering past events. Difficulty in relationships, low self-esteem, attention issues, and problems trusting are common. If this sounds like your experience, please know it is possible to both release and integrate your past for a more fulfilled present.

My ideal client is an adult who is working through navigating life transitions as it pertains to their identity and how they show up in their day to day lives. My ideal client creates intention about processing the trauma in their lives and dissecting how these experiences inform who they are today, whether they feel “stuck” in their trauma or have become comfortable speaking on the trauma they have endured in their lives. My ideal client is looking to participate in a journey that allows them to be in the driver’s seat of the outcomes they are wishing to see for themselves.

I work with folks who struggle with anxiety , body-image/disordered eating, and self-esteem.
Hi! I'm glad you're here :) It's not easy to sift through profiles, trying to find a therapist who will be the right fit for you, but it will be worth it. If you think we'd be a good match, I'd love to help! Are you having a hard time getting societal beauty standards off of your "to-do" list? In a culture that seems hell bent on showing us what we should change about ourselves, it's hard to let it go. The inner critic gets loud, and we become so hard on ourselves for all sorts of everything. If you're looking for some self-love, a peaceful relationship with food and your body, or anxiety management, you've come to the right place.

Welcome! I am currently working with adults, predominantly women in all stages of life, who are coping with anxiety , depression, life stage transitions, times of adjustment, and who are navigating interpersonal issues with family and friends. Life has been challenging recently, and consequently during times of stress and change we often put ourselves last on the to-do list. This is not a place we tend to live happy, productive and meaningful lives from. I will help you explore new and healthy ways to move forward on your personal journey to wellness.

If you have been keeping silent, developing symptoms such as depression and anxiety , or repeatedly becoming involved in dissatisfying relationships, this may not be a result of chance, but rather an indication of your past resurfacing in the present.
While many may hope to attain a quick solution to their struggles through the work of therapy, it is my ultimate goal that the psychological treatment facilitates healing through meaningful self-discovery. As a therapist, I strive to be a witness to stories you may have never told anyone before, including yourself. Every part of your life presents its own uniqueness and complexity. I believe that the inherent safety and trust found within the therapeutic relationship are paramount as therapist and patient embark on this exploration of your past and present experiences.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
