Are you hoping to better communicate, manage conflict and revamp your connection with your partner? Or are you in the midst of a major life transition? My clients struggle like you. Despite their brilliance, creativity and drive, the pressures of adapting to life's changes or communicating with their partner seem overwhelming. Before my clients came to see me, they figured that it was “too late” to make a change, and their life “is what it is.” They feared that if they took any drastic steps to improve their lives, it would be considered “selfish.” The fear of change, but also the fear of never changing created tension and anxiety.

I have had training in helping people to develop their mental health skills, becoming more positive, in counseling people in their career choices, changes and progressions, and in using counseling methodologies for career advancement.
Perhaps you are having difficulty moving up the corporate ladder. Perhaps you don't feel comfortable with a supervisor, manager or the person who hired you). Maybe you and your significant other aren't getting along like you want. Counseling is a working relationship between you and your counselor. I want to help you prosper in your life by focusing on emotional aspects you may be struggling with in the workplace or at home--that means people relationships--employee to employee, supervisor to employee, manager or employee to family, lover to lover, parent to child, and on and on.

Does it feel like no matter what you do, things never change? You’re running on all cylinders, trying to be everything for everyone, including yourself. You tell everyone that you are fine. Managing. But you’re noticing how it’s impacting you. You realize that things need to change. Whether you're experiencing the impacts of systemic oppression, self-esteem, or relationship issues, know that you don't have to be alone in this journey. No two individuals are the same, and I tailor our sessions together to address challenges unique to you. We will work together to understand and address the root cause of those issues.

Life is hard; no one said it would be easy. Nothing that has value comes easily. It seems the things that can bring us lasting joy are the things we have to work to achieve. We are all unique in history. Where we come from, which family, which culture, impacted who we are and who we will or have become. Yet, all of us are the same in that we need human interaction. We come into this world seeking others, touch, interaction. We are neither meant to be or have to be completely alone. *(I am an approved WA State Supervisor and am currently taking on LMHCA supervisees).

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and outwardly “functional,” yet privately exhausted. They’re carrying grief, pressure, responsibility, or unanswered questions about identity, relationships, purpose, or belonging — often without a place to set any of it down. Therapy with me is not about fixing you or rushing toward solutions. It’s about creating a steady, grounded space where you don’t have to perform, translate yourself, or hold everything together.

To say that life is hard is an understatement; what a time to be alive and to be human! Life has an interesting way of "just" happening when we least expect it. Everyone has a story or a burden to bear, some heavier than others. Regardless, seeking a therapist midst those things can add another layer of hardness or stress. My goal as your therapist is to help you find healing. Whether I am the right fit or not, you will leave our consultation one or two ways; ready to dive in together and do the work or help with finding the right therapist.

I am an experienced therapist who works with a variety of issues. I have been a licensed psychologist for 15 plus years. The areas I work with the most include self-care, relaxation, decreasing anxiety, decreasing depression, exploring relationships, increasing and discovering meaningfulness, and future planning. I primarily use cognitive behavioral and existential therapy techniques. This means, in simple terms, that we work to change thinking and behavior and we work to build meaning and purpose.

Congratulations! You have taken the first step toward healing by seeking help. It is important that the relationship between you and your therapist is a good fit, based on mutual respect and trust. I use a strength-based and practical approach. I have a sense of humor which seems to help clients feel more comfortable. Therapy's primary focus is on the present with an understanding of the effects of past events on current behaviors and the need to process unresolved issues. "The turmoil of the past is never wholly forgotten, unresolved it seeps through even the strongest foundation."

My ideal client would be one in which desires to work on the hard issues, desires to listen to feedback and apply these strategies to their life to improve their overall quality of life. I have years of experience working with trauma related issues and recognize that it is difficult to unpack these "heavy" issues and desire clients that are willing to do homework and willing to apply changes to their lives through the counseling process.

My ideal clients often feel overwhelmed, stuck in familiar relationship or life patterns, or unsure how to trust themselves during seasons of change or stress. Many are deeply empathetic, highly sensitive, and have felt misunderstood or pressured to shrink themselves to fit expectations or environments that weren’t built with them in mind. I work especially well with neurodivergent individuals, couples, and people navigating identity, grief, trauma, and belonging. They want relief from overwhelm, secure relationships with healthy communication, clearer emotional understanding, and greater trust in themselves and their needs.

Career Counseling Therapists
How do I know if I need career counseling?
Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?
Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?
The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?
Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
