Habits are hard to change; often impossible to see clearly. Yet most reactive patterns are habits. Many habitual, reactive patterns create obstacles for healthy relationships this leads to feelings of anxiety and depression. You may feel trapped in repetitive cycles asking yourself "why do I keep doing this?" "why does this keep happening?" Therapy helps. My goal is to provide you with a safe space to explore and change. To support insight and your ability to connect with others. Clearing away habitual patterns gives you access to a clear mind and open heart.

I offer sessions in-person (my office or your home or facility) or online.
Can you imagine that it's possible to behold your journey as an opportunity for growth, healing and enriched connections? What would it be like to know that you have the capacity to hold both grief and gratitude? It could be that you have come to a cross-road or are standing on significant thresholds as you face transitions, challenges and decision-making. Maybe grief has cracked you open, or you are struggling with illness and long to discover meaning and balance once again. Perhaps you have an emergent sense that there is “something more” that you are yearning for?

I offer in-person sessions both in my office and outdoors (walking or running).
I work with individuals, couples, and families to address issues ranging from relational conflict to the broad spectrum of mental health. Through an eclectic approach utilizing cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and family systems-based modalities, I explore current problems within the social, cultural, and environmental context of life experiences and the impact these experiences have on both physical and mental health. I often approach the presenting issue as a symptom and endeavor to assist clients in developing an understanding of the function that problem serves and how to achieve that same function with more desired outcomes.

I provide confidential HIPPA compliant online appointments and some in person sessions.
I've lived in the PNW for nearly 30 years via Miami and originally, from New York City. I received a BFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology and worked as a professional photographer. In Seattle, I worked for Microsoft and lead self-actualization seminars before earning a Masters in Existential Psychology from Seattle University. I practice Existential Integrative therapy and study mindfulness and eastern philosophy. I'm interested in the ways these converge, how people construct meaning and how clients use this capacity to generate self-awareness and walk a new pathway forward. I'm ACT & EFT informed.

I know how challenging taking the first step toward getting help and support can be. It is difficult to find a therapist that feels like the right fit, to feel heard and well supported in those initial sessions. As your therapist, I will do my best to facilitate an authentic connection, where you feel seen, heard and compassionately understood. Holding space as you navigate your internal world and the way external influences (past trauma, families of origin etc) impact it will be one of my most important roles.

We often learn ways of dealing with problems that can create more trouble than we intended. Maybe you become habitually hard on yourself or those around you. Maybe you feel stuck in indecision or backed into a corner by life's demands. Maybe you have found ways to soothe yourself that aren't serving you anymore. Or you might be facing the reality of one of life's painful truths such as loss, illness or an accident that has altered your course, leaving you unsure how to face what undeniably is, or how to move forward.

Sometimes we all need a little extra help, whether we feel stuck, disconnected, uncertain, overwhelmed or just OFF. Many families reach out because something about their child’s learning, attention, behavior, or development isn’t fully making sense yet. A child may be working very hard in school but still struggling, feeling overwhelmed by attention or organization challenges, or navigating social differences that are hard to explain. Parents often want clearer answers: Is this ADHD? Autism? A learning difference? Or simply a learning style that needs better support? Most of all, they want to understand their child more deeply so they can advocate effectively and help their child thrive.

All people are one of a kind, but here's where we're all alike: All of us come from a personal history and context: A past that got us through to where we are now. And "Right Now" is where all the choices and opportunities are. Some things we may want to change, other things we may choose to accept as they are. Therapy can be helpful in understanding yourself well enough to know which is which. And therapy can offer some things you may need to go forward with your choices: Hope, perspective and someone who believes in you while you practice believing in yourself.

I most enjoy working in person one-on-one although I'm willing to work online or a hybrid of the two.
My Interest is to work side by side with you in a journey of self discovery. These are trying times to navigate and a safe and supportive environment is essential for any of us to achieve our optimal way of being. You and I collaborate over what is most useful, helpful and relevant to actualize your needs and goals whether that's in the development of healthier more fulfilling relationships with others, recovering from trauma or seeking your heart's desire.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
