Over the years I've worked with a diverse population of individuals with a broad range of life's gifts and challenges. My abiding concern in this work is developing an attentive and respectful relationship where a deepening collaboration is possible. I work with individuals, couples, and families to address issues ranging from relational conflict to the broad spectrum of mental health. Through an eclectic approach utilizing cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and family systems-based modalities, I explore current problems within the social, cultural, and environmental context of life experiences and the impact these experiences have on both physical and mental health. I often approach the presenting issue as a symptom and endeavor to assist clients in developing an understanding of the function that problem serves and how to achieve that same function with more desired outcomes.

I use equine-assisted therapy model Eagala. The client chooses the pace and what to work on. Clients who have experienced trauma, anxieties, and other emotional related problems can find that the horses can relate because they are hyper vigilant and reflect back what they sense. As the counselor I allow for the process to work through at it's own pace and support the strengths of the client as they emerge. I have several locations in Western WA, in order to ease access. At present I have Enumclaw, Maple Valley, Port Townsend, Riversdale, and Olympia .

Can you imagine that it's possible to behold your journey as an opportunity for growth, healing and enriched connections? What would it be like to know that you have the capacity to hold both grief and gratitude? It could be that you have come to a cross-road or are standing on significant thresholds as you face transitions, challenges and decision-making. Maybe grief has cracked you open, or you are struggling with illness and long to discover meaning and balance once again. Perhaps you have an emergent sense that there is “something more” that you are yearning for?

Is anxiety, overwhelm & past trauma making you feel like the walls are caving in? You’ve done everything “right” in life, only to realize that hasn’t made life any easier. Maybe you are one of those high achievers that succeeds at everything, or a people-pleaser terrified of confrontation. Either way – you feel out of control & ashamed, because - why can’t you figure this mental health stuff out? On top of all this, you are at a time of great transition, change & growth. Learning how to be an adult in a scary & unpredictable world can feel very lonely & sometimes crushing. Especially a world that seems like it’s going off the rails.

I have current openings ———Navigating our current world is no easy task, especially if you are queer, trans, non-binary, gay or lesbian or practice non traditional relationship structures. Many of us experience depression, anxiety, intense self doubt, or even self hatred. I will offer you a safe yet engaging space where we can challenge and heal the blocks that get in your way.

Have you ever wondered "why am I still stuck despite all the work I've done?" Do you ever feel trapped, repeating the same cycles and stories over and over again, no matter what you "heal" or "fix"? If you’re anything like me, you built your life around being easy to get along with. You are selfless, and helpful. Your reputation is book-ended on performing under pressure and managing on a shoestring. You hide your vulnerable bits under your general competence, a thick armor of humor, and always being there for everyone else. But underneath all that, you doubt yourself. A LOT!

Therapy is something you have probably contemplated for awhile. It takes a lot of courage to work on tough issues that are making your life less fulfilling than you have envisioned. People seek counseling for different reasons. It can be something from your past that you feel it is time to work on or help finding your direction and motivation to reach your goals. I work with you to overcome whatever blocks are in the way of living the life you want to live. The important thing is to bring more joy into your life.

I am unable to accept new clients at this time. Relationships may be difficult to say the least. Sometimes we feel blindsided by life's twists and turns. We all struggle at times to feel understood or with self doubt, while searching for solutions to overwhelming problems. Whether you are an individual or couple troubled by a present, past or current event, taking that first step, towards talking to someone who may be able to help sort things out, may be one of the most difficult things you do. I would like to make it a little easier.

My approach as a Jungian analyst/psychotherapist is to foremost facilitate a trusting relationship offering a safe healing environment with my office located in my home office facing the Olympic National Park. Carl Jung stated: " It is the privilege of a lifetime to become who you truly are." Most people come to therapy seeking relief from pain for depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, and loss. Our work together is to identify your unique ways of coping and healing through these life traumas that occur for most of us at some point in our lives. My primary focus is Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamic therapy.

Are you heartbroken? Anxious? Angry? All of the above and more? You are welcome here. You may have a relationship that is falling apart or make the same bad decisions again and again. You may be overwhelmed by an overly critical mind that says you are undeserving, less than, or too much. Perhaps you take care of others and forget to take care of yourself. You long for companionship and have a deep desire to matter, to belong, and to be respected.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
