I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression , and substance use disorders.
Everyone no matter who they are are able to move past the darkness and trauma of their past, I am here to help rebuild and reshape thoughts and behaviors that have kept you in the dark. I enjoy collaborating with my clients to achieve their best version of themselves. Reaching out for help is the hardest step in therapy a person can take. By having an open mind and free space to help clients feel safe to express past traumas is essential to build a foundation to become the version each person has the right to show the world.

I’m an associate licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist who specializes in helping teenagers and adults improve their quality of life by healing big and small traumas through Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and cognitive behavioral therapy. As undesirable symptoms (e.g., depression ; anxiety; and numbing behaviors such as isolation, avoidance, and addiction) are often the result of unprocessed trauma, healing the pain can change your life for the better.

As a therapist, my approach is accepting, empathetic, and flexible, and I strive to form a relationship with my clients that is built on trust and respect. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients, together identifying the growth and change that they desire for their lives. I work to help my clients uncover their internal resources and strengths and expand their understanding of their experiences in order to empower them to make the changes that they desire.

Therapy is a place to explore, grow and develop the skills necessary to navigate life’s challenges. Why put on a false front in life? Why smile on the outside when you can’t smile on the inside? Each day may feel like a struggle or feel like there is a cloud over your head. I specialize in anxiety, depression and mood disorders, and understand that our behaviors are a direct result of internal issues. Let me help you feel like you can cope with life again and give you a congruent feeling.

I help people that are feeling anxious and depressed , feel less anxious and depressed . Your mind replays the past and dwells on the future, sending you into panic or making it hard to get out of bed. Your stomach is queasy, your neck is tight, and you feel like you can never quite relax. It feels like others don't see or trust the challenges you face and the effort you actually put in to just get by. You feel uncomfortable in your own skin and unaccepted wherever you go and crave a place that you can truly be yourself, un-judged and appreciated for your unique ideas and qualities. We are going to figure this out together.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples who are experiencing interpersonal difficulties, depression , grief/loss, anxiety, infidelity (either the faithful or the unfaithful partner), or confusion regarding their current or future life situation.
It is my hope that clients gain from counseling specific tools they can apply to their lives to feel better equipped in dealing effectively with their life circumstances. I tailor my counseling to the needs of the client, using various therapeutic techniques to provide clients skills such as communication, emotion management, coping, parenting, etc. I incorporate an educational component, presenting information to enhance knowledge regarding various issues that clients face. I often include homework to make use of the time between sessions. When desired by the client, I approach their circumstances from a biblical perspective.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
