Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists in Port Orchard, WA
You've spent your life wondering why everything that looks effortless for others but costs you so much. You over-prepare, work hard, and underneath things always feel off-balance. Your body has been sending flares for years, with fatigue and strange symptoms that no one can explain, waved off as "probably stress," but you know there has to be more going on. You're not burned out because you're weak. You are burned out because you've spent a lifetime succeeding while also wrestling with yourself, leading only to exhaustion. You have hope that change is on the horizon, but a different type of help will be required to find your way.

Every story has moments of transition—times when the path forward feels uncertain, and the past weighs heavily on the present. But the beauty of these spaces between who you were and who you want to be, is that they hold great power for transformation. My role is to walk with you as you explore your narrative, uncover the truths hidden within, and find a way through the fog.

What's good? How y'all doing? My name is St.Ennah. I work with folks who are QTBIPOC and struggling with trauma that stems from race, gender, sexuality, interpersonal relationships, and childhood. I ground my practice in relational cultural therapy, where the therapeutic relationship is key to the work that is done in therapy. I believe the work ain’t getting done unless the trust is there. I bring in an Afrocentric perspective, and I also bring an anti-oppressive lens into my practice to work towards decolonizing our minds and bodies, and as a guide to liberation.

It's too much to deal with at times; what life throws at you. Anxiety, anger and relationship stress have become normal in your daily life. Therapy isnt something you have tried or you feel hasn't worked for you in the past. It's hard to tell your story...again... but it has gotten to the point that you recognize that meaningful change must occur in your life individually or in your relationships in order to live the healthy life you want and deserve. It can start today.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
