Are you feeling stuck where you are currently? Often, how we present to the world is driven by how we learned to survive in it. At our core, we seek to feel seen, heard, loved, and valued. However, our own beliefs that we are unworthy or undeserving of these basic desires lead us to feel anxious or depressed, lonely, disconnected, misunderstood or overwhelmed. Such beliefs about ourselves are built on years of messaging that tell us who we "should" be and bring us further away from who we are at our core. By exploring these beliefs, we can work together to heal and to bring you closer to your truest, most authentic self.

In my 40 years as a psychologist my goal has been to provide the safe nurturing environment that creates a productive client/therapist relationship. I have never forgotten my early experiences in seeking help from a therapist, wondering what it would be like, and if it would really help. I appreciated the understanding and insight I received then, and throughout my life, sometimes with my husband, I have found different kinds of therapy that were helpful to me and to my clients.

Are you a parent, couple, or individual feeling stuck or overwhelmed? You're not alone. It's easy to believe that struggling means something is wrong with you or your relationship. I don't believe that's true. Asking for support isn't a sign of failure—it's courage. We all face challenges, which does not mean you are broken—just human. How you see yourself shapes how you show up in life and in your relationships. Therapy isn't about fixing you; it's about uncovering your true self, embracing your worth, and recognizing your strengths. Therapy can create space for healing, growth, and lasting change for couples and individuals.

I primarily work with women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are navigating the lasting effects of religious trauma, emotionally manipulative or rigid childhood environments, and emotional abuse in their relationships. Together, in a space that supports honesty and authenticity, we’ll explore emotions and memories that may have been overlooked, dismissed, or silenced—creating room for deeper understanding and healing.

My work focuses on supporting adults with anxiety/depression, ADHD/executive functioning support, stress management, navigating difficult changes/transitions, and building healthy relationships with yourself and with others. I emphasize a collaborative approach in my practice: you are the expert of your own experience. I tend to bring a human approach to my work and frequently use humor in my sessions (I'm absolutely the therapist who will laugh at your jokes- and then unpack them). I also fully endorse the concept that the therapeutic relationship itself has a great capacity for healing.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
