I enjoy helping who are navigating a significant life transition or grappling with questions about identity, purpose, and change. Clients may be in the process of moving from adolescence to adulthood, adjusting to new responsibilities, or re-evaluating long held patterns in relationships and behavior. Often they come to me because life feels uncertain or out of balance. They sense that something needs to shift, but aren't sure where to start.

Welcome! You may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, identity questions, school or work stress, relationship challenges, or major life changes. You might feel on edge, drained, or caught in habits that feel hard to change, especially if you’ve gone through significant stress or difficult experiences. Change is inevitable and life is unpredictable- two guaranteed discomforts in life. Whether caused by unexpected and unforeseen circumstances or recurring throughout your life, such great discomfort can be trying on anyone’s well-being. Hardships and traumas do not discriminate and can affect all humans, causing us distress within our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual parts. I believe therapy is a place to heal our wounds; to learn how to cope with life stressors and find ways to self-soothe; and to have a non-judgmental space held by someone who can provide safety and security. You do not have to do this alone.

I am passionate about working with teens and young adults as they explore and become the adults they want to be, assisting them in setting good boundaries and finding ways to safely express themselves while being and growing into productive members of society. I enjoy working with teens and their families regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, family composition, religious backgrounds and beliefs, or schooling choices. I believe in solution-focused therapies that bring families together in healthy ways, integrating the needs of both teens and parents. I am also kink aware and familiar with ENM. I meet you where you are.

Recognizing when something isn’t working is not weakness—it’s the beginning of change. Whether you feel stuck in familiar patterns or are navigating a life transition, therapy can help you understand what’s beneath the surface and move forward with greater clarity. Since 2011, I’ve worked with adults across clinical settings and have extensive experience with LGBTQ+ individuals, veterans, and creatives. I see clients virtually throughout the state of Washington.

I'm from East Los Angeles; fluent in Spanish (hablo espanol). I'm an army veteran who is a bit nerdy and likes metal. I enjoy working with adults and teenagers- especially people from diverse backgrounds, non-conformists, and those who have trauma histories (sexual, religious, military, gangs, etc.). I became interested in psychology after being "in the system" as a kid and not getting adequate help.

Many of the clients I work with are navigating depression, anxiety, the effects of childhood trauma, and relationship or attachment issues. Counseling offers a safe space to slow down and make sense of how past experiences shape your present life. Together we explore patterns that may be contributing to emotional overwhelm, self-doubt, or relationship struggles. My goal is to help clients reclaim their voice, shift old narratives, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. I offer thoughtful reflection, gentle challenge, and collaborative problem-solving while honoring each client’s culture, strengths, and pace.

Your mind is different than others. This makes it difficult to manage your time, finish projects, and stay focused. You make well-intentioned commitments that you struggle to keep. You get your work done, but you procrastinate and often turn things in at the last minute. You look like you have it all together, but you’re struggling inside. This struggle is impacting your relationships, your home life, and your work. It also makes it difficult for you to enjoy your hobbies and pursue new ones. Maybe recently got diagnosed with ADHD, or you're wondering if you're ADHD.

Many adults seek therapy when they feel burned out, disconnected, or in the midst of significant transition and are looking for support beyond traditional talk therapy. I specialize in working with queer and transgender adults and with women navigating aging, including perimenopause and menopause. Common concerns include anxiety, depression, trauma (past or present), climate grief, and identity transitions. This work often resonates with those drawn to nature-based therapy and small group experiences that support nervous system regulation, shared reflection, and reconnection with self, others, and the natural world.

Life has a way of making relationships feel harder than they should, even when love is there. Conversations with your partner sometimes feel like speaking different languages, or your past keeps showing up uninvited. Maybe you'd really like your anxiety to take a permanent vacation. Podcasts and books have only gotten you so far, and you're feeling stuck. Having someone in your corner who knows how to guide this work makes all the difference. A systemic therapist who'll help uncover what's really going on underneath, who understands trauma, relationships, and believes real, lasting change is absolutely possible for you.

My clients want change and growth in their lives and/or their relationships, but they often don't know where to start. Or, they might have made the enormous first steps of moving towards change and growth only to feel stuck and unsure of how to move forward. My clients find that within the experience of being truly heard, accepted, validated, and supported, that the door between where they are and the change they want begins to unlock and slowly open. My approach focuses on unlocking and discovering the strengths that we don't always realize we have, on building new coping skills, and on creating new understanding and connections.

You are not meant to be perfect; you are meant to be whole. A whole life is a mixture of good and bad. Both experiences are needed to for a wider perspective and to allow for a full appreciation of the positives in life. I work with kids, tweens, teens, and beyond, either individually or as a family, to help you achieve the life you want. We will explore your current experience, and where you want life to go, then figure out the needed knowledge, skill-building, and actions to move you (and/or your family) toward your goals and ideal life. You deserve a happy and fulfilling life, whatever that looks like for you.

For nearly 20 years I've had the privilege and joy of helping people gain a better sense of themselves, their relationships, and their roles and goals in life. I’m here to help with the hard stuff, and I take your goals very seriously. I also believe in the power and importance of finding humor and giving ourselves grace along the way. I value your perspective and welcome feedback and input, and I will work with you to find a path that makes sense to you. Navigating relationships (romantic, family, parent-teen), personal challenges and transitions (including medical & health), and healing past pain are my jam.

Shame. Negative self-talk. Low self-worth. Hopelessness. These are robbing you of a fulfilling life. I can help you say something new. Because when people tell a new story about themselves, they rewrite their lives and thrive.

I work with teens and adults who would like to address the ways mental health, stress, grief, and/or the many systems we all must navigate can impede on our optimal thriving. We explore ways to be resilient in the face of hardship and turmoil. I can support Folx with identifying if they have mental health symptoms that can be alleviated with treatment. For some, I am a supportive and compassionate sounding board in this increasingly disconnected world. I truly believe that healing and hope are possible for us all, the path forward can be daunting and can only be made better with good support.

Secular and Non-Religious Therapists
What is a secular and non religious approach in therapy?
Secular or non-religious therapy is a theoretical orientation used by many therapists and describes a therapeutic approach that does not rely on any specific religious or faith-based beliefs in the therapeutic process. Secular counselors will often approach therapy with an emphasis on evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients, instead of relying on religious practices, such as prayer or belief in God.

Is secular therapy primarily for non-religious people?
Both religious and non-religious individuals can benefit from secular therapy. People exploring their religious or spiritual beliefs may find it especially useful to work with a secular therapist who is unbiased toward any specific religion. While religious individuals might value the connection and familiarity of seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs, secular counseling can offer them the chance to develop coping skills independent of their religious practice, which can be beneficial in various aspects of their lives.

Can a secular approach to therapy help with religious trauma?
One major reason clients may seek a secular therapist is to process previous religious experiences, including religious trauma. Secular therapists can help clients manage symptoms of the trauma through practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They can also encourage clients through talk therapy or psychodynamic approaches to explore the roots of their religious trauma. Since secular therapists do not have any predetermined religious beliefs, they can be particularly helpful for clients looking to explore their own religious beliefs following a history of religious trauma.

What does non religious marriage and premarital counseling involve?
Marriage and premarital counseling typically involves a couple meeting with a therapist to discuss topics such as planning for marriage, navigating a new marriage, addressing relationship challenges, and developing better communication and conflict resolution skills. Non-religious therapists assist couples in achieving these goals without adhering to specific religious beliefs or frameworks, often emphasizing inclusivity and non-judgment, especially for "nontraditional" couples. However, seeking couples therapy from a non-religious counselor does not mean religious topics are off-limits. In fact, non-religious couples from different religious backgrounds may benefit from a secular therapist who remains neutral toward the beliefs of each partner.
