Psychodynamic Therapists in Pacific County, WA
I work with individuals navigating relationship challenges, domestic violence, substance use, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Some days we use structured approaches like IFS or cognitive-based strategies, and other days focus on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space to process thoughts and emotions openly. Humans are complex and intricate, and I tailor each session to what is most needed in the moment—whether that’s insight, skill-building, or simply giving space for them to feel heard—so clients can move forward with greater clarity, stability, and self-understanding.

My approach is rooted in Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, offering a compassionate and collaborative space where you can speak your truth without filters.
I work with adults and LGBTQIA+ people who carry the deep pain of religious trauma, emotionally rigid or manipulative upbringings, and harmful relationship dynamics. I want to work alongside you as you find who you truly are and connect with the version of yourself that may have been forced to hide. These experiences can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself. In our work together, we’ll gently untangle those memories, honor your resilience, and help you reclaim a sense of safety, self-trust, and inner freedom. I am not here to be the all knowing healer. I am here to offer an accepting place to find the most authentic you.

Client centered, psychodynamic therapy interventions support uncovering obstacles to change.
You may feel trapped, angry, lonely, or numb. Overwhelm is the new ‘normal’. Sometimes our own obstacles are hard to see or understand. These challenges feel like anxiety, intrusive thoughts, sleep problems, sadness. The hardest part is asking for help. You may feel a strong aversion to needing support. Everybody needs connection. Therapy can help you find ways to connect. The most important take away my clients report is freedom from critical mind & overwhelming emotions. Everyone has the capacity for this freedom.

You know the thought isn't true. You know it doesn't reflect who you are or what you really want. And yet it keeps coming back, louder, more convincing, and at times, terrifying. Maybe it's the thought that you could hurt someone you love. Maybe it's a doubt about your own goodness, your faith, your relationship. Maybe it arrives as an image you can't unsee, or the need for an answer that never comes. I help people understand what's actually happening in their minds, and to find a way back to trusting who they know they actually are, before OCD tried to convince them that their worst fear could be real.

There are universal experiences that can cause us to question everything we have learned about who we are within ourselves and in connection to others. It’s in these times it can be difficult to meet life on life’s terms; when looking on the bright side, persistence and grit no longer get us through the day. This has been especially true this past severalyears. The most profound change being our ability to be connected to each other and having shared experiences to look forward to.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
