The waters of life can be stormy; currents and eddies abound. Even the best of swimmers can get disoriented, tired out, or feeling lost at sea. You can find a safe harbor with Buoy 10 Psychotherapy; a place to get your breath and your bearings; a space to learn new ways to get to shore or wherever your destination might be.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I am passionate about getting to the heart of the challenge(s) my clients face. I desire to work with my clients in discovering who they are by working through the issue(s) they face and achieve their desired goal(s). I believe wholeheartedly in finding the beauty within that makes one uniquely who they are. There is no absolute way to achieve that, however; my role is to offer a judgment free safe space for my clients that allows for transparency in all aspects of their life to allow for hope to eliminate the feelings of being stuck and overwhelmed. I work with individuals, couples, and families

I also draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy to help deepen emotional awareness, improve communication, and strengthen relationships.
Have you ever said “No worries!” while deeply worrying? … same. ;) Anxiety has a way of convincing us that we’re too much, not enough, or somehow both at once. If you find yourself stuck in cycles of overthinking, people-pleasing, or replaying old relational patterns, you're not alone—and you’re not broken. I work with women navigating anxiety, trauma, and attachment wounds. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with a touch of humor to make the process feel more relatable and human. Together, we’ll explore your story—especially the parts that may have been ignored, misunderstood, or minimized.

Feeling misunderstood or unloved by the people you need most can break you. The constant highs and lows, shame, and fear of abandonment leave you exhausted. Add anxiety, depression, or trauma, and it feels impossible to hold it all together. I help clients facing these struggles—especially those with Borderline Personality Disorder—heal painful patterns, repair relationships, and find peace within themselves and others. You don’t have to keep surviving; we can start rebuilding together. I’d love for you to call—sometimes one conversation is all it takes to feel a lot less alone and a lot more hopeful.

I specialize in therapy for trauma and/or anxiety in Olympia and online throughout Washington, with a focus on Brainspotting, somatic therapy, and parts work (often called "IFS"). I primarily work somatically (with the body) and mindfully (with non-judgmental attention to our present-moment experience), and weave attachment work into most everything I do. Many who work with me are thoughtful, intuitive folks who hold their lives together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed or self-critical on the inside. If you’ve spent years just managing symptoms but sense something deeper is asking for attention, we might be a good fit.

I believe people do not need fixing. They need space to be themselves, talk openly, and explore whatever feels important without judgment. I am flexible, adaptable, and here to support whatever you want to work on. My approach is rooted in respect. You are important, you deserve to take up space, and you will never be judged for who you are. I use talk therapy as the foundation and draw from CBT, SFBT, Reality Therapy, and DBT skills as I continue to learn.

Life as you know it has changed. You may have been barely holding on before, and now you're struggling to adjust to life's new normal. Anxiety and/or depression may not be new to you, but dealing with medical and racial pandemics simultaneously feels like too much. Connecting with your partner seems harder now than ever before, even though you are spending more time together. All of your regular coping skills and self-care tools don't seem to be doing the job, and you are looking for relief.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
