I work within the modality of
Somatic
Movement Therapy and practice from the premise that body experience and movement hold a unique role in understanding and transforming human behavior. Sessions develop by directing clients awareness to sensation, impulse, movement and/or emotion in order to support physiological and neurological process. The pace and direction of this work is client led through verbal and nonverbal feedback. This approach is founded in developmental therapy, interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory.

A down-to-earth approach is often what is needed to get to the heart of the struggles in our lives... Psychospiritual growth, relationship issues and
somatic
(body) awareness are at the core of my working with people. Together we will co-create a sacred space where the depths of your feelings and concerns can be safely explored, processed, and supported. My role will be to accompany and intuitively guide you on this unfolding, transformational journey.

Mindfulness,
somatic
awareness, Sandtray and art will support our work and are the foundation of my embodied, experiential therapy approach.
Do you want to create a more compassionate and meaningful relationship with yourself? Are there parts of you that are holding onto pain from trauma and oppression that long to be cared for and witnessed? Do you want to heal old and unhelpful patterns, be more authentic and explore your life from a grounded perspective? I work with clients to deepen, heal, and expand their most important relationship: the relationship with themselves. Grief, anxiety, anger, pain, and uncertainty are natural parts of being human, however, your relationship to these emotions can make all the difference in how you experience them.

Treatment is tailored to your specific needs using a variety of evidenced-based therapeutic techniques including EMDR, attachment-based strategies, self compassion work, mindfulness, IFS or parts work,
somatic

Whether you have been struggling for a long time or recently found yourself in need of extra support, I am here to help. My first goal in therapy is to join with you in the fact that we are all imperfect human beings trying to do our best. I see therapy as an opportunity to learn more about yourself and your experiences, to learn how to cope with life's inevitable challenges, to feel more grounded and connected to your sense of self, and create a more fulfilling life.

I come to your session equipped to offer you a range of modalities including EMDR, Narrative therapy, Interpersonal therapy and drawing on training in ACT, DBT, TF-CBT, IFS, MI, KAP, Harm Reduction Psychotherapy, Psychodrama and
Somatic
Abolition.
My focus as a therapist is on helping survivors of traumatic experiences to heal and address the many ways that early abuse and neglect can impact adult life. You may have noticed posttraumatic symptoms such as intrusive thoughts, nightmares, always feeling on guard, not being able to remember things you feel you should, or overly negative beliefs about yourself and the world. You may have been dealing with the symptoms for so long that they seem like a part of you- unhelpful patterns, depression, anxiety, addiction, career, relationship or parenting problems and difficulty making desired life changes. Things can be different!

I specialize in EMDR and
Somatic
Experiencing.
I’m so glad you are here. Do you feel overwhelmed, confused, stuck, anxious, or dissociated? Find yourself shutting people out and pushing them away, or say yes for fear of being alone? Sometimes it’s just easier to do things ourselves, to hold it all. We often spend so much time protecting ourselves from pain that we feel like we are not really living. Humans are hardwired to focus on the negative aspects of life for survival; even when there is some good, we push the positive away or have a hard time accepting it.

I offer
somatic
therapy to support resilience and nervous system regulation with a focus on attachment and healing from stress and trauma. The basis of my work is trauma-informed care with an emphasis on anti-oppression theory.
Somatic
, or body-based therapy, can be particularly helpful for grounding, connection with self and others, integrating past and current experience, and embodiment. If you are looking for ways to shift out of survival patterns and into deeper presence in your life, you're in the right place. I work with adults, kids, and parent/child dyads.

I use a trauma-informed
somatic
approach to help you connect with your inner strength and resiliency.
You are worthy of love, compassion, and tenderness. This can be hard to believe when we have struggled through trauma, abandonment, disconnection, and loss. Often these experiences create a feeling of "not good enough" that is really tough to overcome on our own. We need a healing container where we can be real, vulnerable, and messy, and be met with gentleness, safety, and authentic acceptance. I want you to know you are not alone and you are inherently good, no matter what you have done or what has happened to you. You can heal your heart and feel whole. I'm honored to walk with you on this path.

I blend mindfulness and
somatic
awareness to help you be calmly aware and present in/for your life.
Are you sensitive? Tired of being told you're too sensitive? Do you feel misunderstood, experience anxiety & overwhelm, and find yourself in unhealthy relationships? If so, you may be a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) like me. We are empathic, emotionally moved by art & beauty, and are deeply affected by grief, violence, and trauma. We feel deeply and notice everything. We may not do well in loud crowds, need patience and space, dislike inauthenticity, and avoid upsetting scenerios like scary movies or contact sports. It's hard to be sensitive in an insensitive world and I can help you find balance and calm.

This
somatic
approach of tracking thoughts, emotions, sensations and memories leads to relaxation of body and calming of mind.
My approach to counseling is friendly, open and gentle. Together we will explore and discover beliefs and emotions that are keeping you stuck, anxious, sad, angry or fearful. Awareness arising from this journey begins a natural internal re-modeling process that results in a sense of connection with your true Self and your own inner wisdom. Space emerges for automatic reactions to become choiceful responses. Overwhelming emotions become manageable and even sources of wisdom. Previously unknown options become apparent, allowing for more focus, clarity and effectiveness in all realms of your life: (physical, emotional mental and spiritual).

I integrate cognitive, behavioral, and
somatic
(body centered) therapies, mindfulness, depth therapies and EMDR.
Unfortunately I am not taking new clients at this time. I specialize in building strong, vibrant, supportive relationships. Everything I do begins with providing a safe and caring space where you feel open and entirely welcome. I aim to help you feel better from our first session, encouraged that you can achieve lasting change, utilizing your struggles as opportunities to grow and transform. I begin with the attachment premise that we are relational beings and need one another.

I draw from several
somatic
therapy approaches—including
somatic
trauma therapies—that focus on the way the nervous system's stress response shapes our emotions and thoughts.
I love working with folks who sense that talk therapy alone isn't enough to transform those places in their life where they feel stuck—whether this be due to persistent anxiety or depression, trauma, childhood abuse or neglect, or trouble with relationships or self-worth. As a
somatic
(body-based) psychotherapist, I can support you in learning to also listen to the embodied cues that live beneath your thoughts and follow them towards the real you—the vibrant, easeful you that is hidden underneath pain and struggle. While our work together will of course involve verbal exploration of your story, we will always keep the body in mind.

Jasmin utilizes a trauma informed holistic approach in her therapy practice, pulling from therapeutic modalities such a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered and
Somatic
Therapy techniques. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), she understands the impact trauma has on the brain and the body. She acknowledges that trauma is a physiological experience that lives in our body and needs to be expressed in a safe and therapeutic way.

As a relational,
somatic
therapist, I support clients in having different physiological responses to stress.
My clients tend to seek deep connection to self and more opportunities for living and breathing the fullest expressions of who they are. Through warm human connection, curiosity, and collaboration, I help folks transform places that feel stuck through discovering a sense of ground and wholeness in themselves that endures in the face of the difficulty. Together - within a safe and cozy crucible - we uncover ways to settle the nervous system and reveal the deepest and truest felt-sense alternatives to those distressing feelings, thoughts and patterns that keep scratching at the back door.

My approach is emotionally focused and based in attachment science, emphasizing self-awareness and the mind-body connection through parts work, expressive arts techniques, and
somatic
therapies.
Like a seed that holds within itself the wisdom of an entire tree, I firmly believe that we each, at our core, carry our own innate wisdom meant to guide us in our journey and help us thrive. Life is imperfect, though, and there are storms that come without warning, unexpected turns, and uncharted crossroads. We may find ourselves confused, restless, disconnected, overwhelmed with fear, with anger, or sorrow. We may feel empty, lost, maybe even hopeless. In the noise of all that is going on around us, or in the deafening silence, it can be difficult to hear that wise inner voice of ours that always knows the best way forward.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
