But above all, I love spending time with my
family
.
You are a Gift. A Perfect Creation of Love and Generosity. My approach with individuals is multidisciplinary, systemic, all-embracing, holistic, and client-centered. I believe in the immense potential each person possesses and the capacity to heal. My core training is based on psychodynamic, cognitive, and behavioral theories. However, I use a mix of research-based techniques and mindfulness practices because I'm a strong believer in the power of the connection between mind, body, and soul. I believe that therapy is a creative process that can have a meaningful and profound impact in transforming people's lives.

I specialize in Reproductive Issues because those emotionally-challenging experiences are rarely talked about, even amongst close friends and
family
which can lead to isolation and unnecessary pain.
I have Immediate Openings! Whether you are just navigating some hard circumstances or are struggling with debilitating symptoms, having the right supports in place can help you thrive instead of just survive.

I explore the past with patients to examine the ways that previous life experiences, particularly with one’s
family
of origin, influence us as adults in how we perceive, interpret, and interact with others in our current lives.
I work with adults who feel depressed, anxious, lonely, ashamed, stigmatized, othered, or “not good enough.” Areas of expertise include existential concerns about one’s purpose and finding meaning; struggles with sexism/misogyny; and challenges around reproductive issues (infertility, miscarriage, traumatic labor/delivery, postpartum depression). My therapeutic practice is humanistic, existential, and feminist, grounded by a social psychological perspective on human beings as situated within their social worlds. I seek to engage in therapy that is collaborative, respectful, and caring.

I provide individual sessions,
family
sessions, couples sessions, sex therapy, group therapy, Christian therapy, and sports therapy.
My approach to therapy is very client focused. I am a systemic therapist and will try and look at the whole picture of your life to help figure out how to help. Working with couples to save, restore, or provide maintenance is my passion. There’s nothing in the world quite like trauma and the way it impacts us as individuals on many different levels. I can help you deal with and navigate these painful memories and intrusive thoughts to live a healthier life. If you are a parent struggling with a child or
family
problems, I believe I can connect with and help teach both parent and child to help you be a more successful
family
unit.

I offer holistic individual,
family
, couples/relationship, and group therapy.
I am currenty on maternity leave and not seeing clients until June 2023. Healing and caring for ourselves is hard work. Sometimes painful, often fulfilling, occasionally tedious, it is a necessary part of being open to the experiences that life has to offer us. Therapy is one way to find support in healing from trauma, managing our health, and discovering and practicing new ways of caring for ourselves. As Audre Lorde wrote, "Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." This work is important, both individually and collectively, and I am here to help you with it.

I love working with couples and I am a certified Imago therapist - a technique pioneered by Harville Hendricks which brings together communication issues and
family
of origin material in a very effective way.
In practice since 1994, as a therapist I have learned many ways of approaching issues with clients and can really tailor to your needs and what works best for you. The agenda for therapy is set by you. I also have a wide array of experience working with various issues. I often use EMDR which is considered the treatment of choice for PTSD and also very effective with panic attacks, phobias, performance issues, etc. I believe that no one has to be stuck with the ways they were injured in life.

I strongly believe that your
family
of origin influences the dynamics in your relationships and your patterns of behavior.
We are living in some challenging times. If you’re struggling, that means you’re human. Know that asking for help is a strength. My therapy is collaborative in nature. I treat a range of difficulties using a variety of techniques. I work from an attachment perspective that is emotionally focused. I believe therapy involves the presence of your entire being (mind/body/spirit). Ultimately, I believe human connection is one of the most important healing tools. Thus, I create a safe therapeutic environment where growth and discovery can flourish. I bring my full self to my work – my optimism, my directness, my persistence, my humor.

I have enough professional (40+ years) and life experience that I can offer perspectives on questions such as “Is this normal? Can I change this? Change this situation and the people I’m upset about?” My training includes proven methods to improve emotional health, mood, daily activities, social connections,
family
and child relationships, trauma healing.
You may not be sure exactly what is troubling you, much less what can help, and opening up to and trusting someone to care often seems too difficult. I will work to put you at ease with understanding and support as we create a positive working relationship. We will build on that to sort out your challenges and find ways for you to cope, change yourself or your situation, and accept whatever the reality is until you are back to feeling happier and stronger.

Welcome! We are all emotional and relational beings so naturally our greatest happiness and heartache often come from our relationships and are ongoing throughout our lives. Experiencing anxiety, depression, feelings of being stuck, loneliness, spiritual challenges, struggling with communication issues, moving through discouragement, and unmet expectations in yourself and/or loved ones, is not a sign of failure or weakness. These experiences simply remind us we are human and provide opportunities for growth. The choice to do something different is yours. I welcome the walk with you on your journey of hope and transformation.

One of the biggest challenges is finding the “right” therapist in a sea with many options and approaches. Building a treatment relationship of connection, trust and understanding between each client and myself is of the utmost importance. I am a seasoned psychologist who is committed to being a guide for my clients as they move through the struggles, fears, anxieties and pain that have held them back in their life and their relationships. Over the last two years I have started training in IFS (Internal

I have a strong background, Internal
Family
Systems Certified, EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
I believe in empowering people to reach their full potential by providing services that are strengths-based, practical, holistic, and focused on promoting long lasting change. I work using a style of fostering trust and authenticity, starting where people want and ending when people feel their life and issues have changed and their happiness enhanced. I believe the relationship in counseling is the core issue in treatment. This is particularly important in working with children and adolescents where no work could be done without building a warm, honest, and caring connection. I believe healing comes through the mind, body, spirit connection.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
