You’ve probably already read books like The Power of Now, The Secret, and The Four Agreements but still feel a bit lost. You wake up in the morning, trudge through your day, do your best to get things done on your never ending list, just to have it start over again. You ask yourself questions like: What am I even doing? Where do I want to go? What do I want to be? What do I even want to do with my life? We’re all still constantly figuring it out and doing our best, but there are things we can do to better understand what it is we want to create so we can start actually manifesting the future we want into existence.

In my work as a therapist, I rely on: compassion, creativity, curiosity, honesty, patience, kindness, and humor. I am fond of working with Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and with whatever it was Carl Whitaker was up to. I consider my practice to be an invitation to work with people of all: ages, backgrounds, identities and expressions, which in part means I work with kids and teens. My pronouns are typically he/him.

My goal in counseling is to help individuals and couples navigate the challenges that they face in their day-to-day lives. This process often involves exploration of difficult relationships and complex human experiences. While this exploration process is important and can lead to tremendous growth and success, it can be emotionally and mentally taxing – I am here to help walk you through this process safely and efficiently. Your goals will guide our work together.

Therapy is a place for healing, transformation, and growth. When working with children, teens, families, and adults, I strive to help them achieve their current goals. I offer psychoeducation, insight, and interventions with a client-centered approach. In other words, I meet my clients where they are in their life and work with them at their own pace. Specifically, I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-injurious behaviors, suicidality, behavioral/ communication issues, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

Ultimately, I believe that life is a journey and not a race. Our experiences might have shaped our journey, but they do not have to define our future. I am a strength based counselor that aims to assist my clients in using their own strengths to navigate their life by providing unique and authentic support.

Therapy can be a difficult journey that calls for us to be truthful and vulnerable. This can be difficult for many to achieve due to past trauma, previous unhealthy interactions, or defense mechanisms that we have created in order to get to the next moment. For the first stage of therapy, I work with clients to establish safety and improve emotional regulation skills. This is important because we need to stay in control of our body’s reactions when talking about situations that have played an impact on our lives in order to obtain safety.

My areas of focus are primarily depression, anxiety, and trauma. I work from a non-judgmental, collaborative approach and believe that you are the expert in your own life. I take a non-directive, accepting approach to meet you where you are and build a relationship of trust and respect. We will work together to identify the patterns of behavior that you feel are interfering in your life or functioning and develop the skills to alter or cope with these patterns more effectively so you can start living your best life!

I serve clients from a plethora of diverse backgrounds and situations; I enjoy learning about cultures, traditions, and customs! Our differences are our natural strengths; these differences don't separate us, they bring us closer together! With this perspective I enjoy working with clients that are looking, and ready, to embrace the challenges they are experiencing. Clients often encounter multiple obstacles that intersect with their past, present, and future selves. My goal is to deliver the appropriate treatment that is needed for clients to experience optimal relief.

I address areas of self-esteem; depression/sadness; stress/anxiety; PTSD; grief/loss (including the loss of a pet); and life transitions; as well as nurturing personal and spiritual growth. Suffering the impacts of trauma, being entangled in a web of codependency, or sinking into stagnating depression, can cause marked distress and dysfunction in our daily lives. Sometimes our own attempts at self-medicating can further complicate matters. If we have experienced a significant loss, it may be hard to even imagine an end to the pain and it may be rather difficult to trust in any process of change. Fear and shame can often prevent us from reaching out, convincing us this is an unyielding fate.

Cigna and Evernorth Therapists
Cigna and its healthcare division Evernorth provide behavioral health coverage though managed care plans and Medicare Advantage plans. Outside the U.S., Cigna provides insurance through Cigna Global Health Benefits.

Cigna and Evernorth HMO plans only cover services from in-network providers and require a referral from your primary care physician. EPO plans also utilize in-network providers but generally do not require a PCP referral. PPO plans offer the most flexibility and a larger network of providers, and may include some out of network benefits.

Occasionally Cigna or Evernorth Therapists in Olympia will only accept a limited number of in-network insurance patients in their practice, so it's important to check if your plan is accepted when you book a consultation.

Based in Connecticut, Cigna insures 180 million people in more than 30 countries around the world. Cigna rebraded its health services division as Evernorth in September 2021.

Here’s a link to more information on how insurance works to cover behavioral health benefits.
