Free yourself from the anxiety trap! Anxiety , panic , worry and stress can hold people back from performing in life. It can hold people back in school, from getting the job they want, getting promoted, and flourishing in relationships. Trying to escape anxiety can lead people to doing things they wouldn't normally do. When people are frozen with fear they are not living life fully as their authentic selves. Working with a therapist can break you free from anxiety . I've helped so many people work through these feelings to go on to be more successful in their lives.

I have worked with individuals, couples, and families who have faced anxiety , depression, & behaviors that have impacted the overall living condition for over 7 years.
As an Asian American therapist, I have the unique perspective that comes with the BIPOC community and I take pride in creating a safe and judgement free environment. My "ideal" client would be someone who is willing to get out of their comfort zone to gain the life they want to enjoy and love. A client who is open, honest, and willing to ask for help. I get excited when clients talk to me about the changes they want to make in their life and It excites me to see the possibility of change! Come as you are and we will navigate the rest together.

I'm experienced in working with issues like anxiety , depression, eating disorders, unresolved trauma, and identity development.
Are you traveling full speed on a path that no longer has a meaningful destination? Is it hard to identify needs or set boundaries because you've learned it's safer not to take up space? Or maybe you've built a wall around your true self because you didn't fit the mold you were given? Firstly, know that these are all indicators that you're resilient and adaptable. You may have faced significant challenges or traumas and found a way to move forward even with unmet needs. This is a skill of survival; however, it's not adequate when navigating the full complexity of life. For that, you will also need compassion, connection, and purpose.

Welcome! We are all emotional and relational beings so naturally our greatest happiness and heartache often come from our relationships and are ongoing throughout our lives. Experiencing anxiety , depression, feelings of being stuck, loneliness, spiritual challenges, struggling with communication issues, moving through discouragement, and unmet expectations in yourself and/or loved ones, is not a sign of failure or weakness. These experiences simply remind us we are human and provide opportunities for growth. The choice to do something different is yours. I welcome the walk with you on your journey of hope and transformation.

You try your best to focus at work and at home, but you can’t concentrate. As soon as you let your guard down, even for a moment, the familiar sense of panic gets it's grip on you. It clouds your mind with fear and makes even the simplest tasks impossible. You’ve experienced some bad situations, but you thought you were over it now. Unfortunately, the painful past isn’t done with you. There’s a cold knot in the pit of your belly that won't go away. Horrible memories play on repeat in your mind. Now it’s affecting every aspect of your life. It’s hard to feel close to anyone. You want to make a change, but it feels so hopeless.

From this approach, I go beyond talk therapy to help my clients understand why they may be experiencing uncomfortable symptoms, like anxiety and depression.
My goal as your therapist is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for you to heal, grow, and thrive. It is deeply important to me to build a therapeutic relationship where you feel seen and heard, and feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self, however that may be. Together we will learn to access internal and external skills, tools, and resources to help support you and your unique needs. I aim for you to leave therapy with a greater sense of wellbeing, deeper self-awareness, and feeling grounded.

Does life feel out of control? The winds of depression, anxiety , relationship distress, emotional and physical infidelity, grief, hopelessness and/or loneliness can make us feel like we don’t have any control over our lives. We cannot direct these winds, but I can help you learn how to adjust your sails. These adjustments will lead you to finding a sense of purpose and direction in your life. Recognizing your value and strength will empower you to be able to face whatever storms might rage. Change is facilitated by understanding our emotions and how they affect not only us, but our relationships as well.

I hold a deep belief that we all have an enduring drive toward wholeness in the ways we attempt to manage life's events as they happen to us. As we grow up and older, the ways we learned to cope with those events often stop working for us. We hold onto those tactics because they are what we know how to do. What troubles us (fear, anxiety , depression, anger, chronic pain or illness - and more) is our coping strategies fail to prevent past traumas coming up in life again and again to haunt us. We can be free of those and experience happiness, peace of mind, and know what it is to have purpose and meaning.

I work with teens and adults who are challenged by different things: trauma responses, depression, anxiety , life transitions, grief and loss, etc.
I work with adolescents and adults who would like to change difficult behaviors and mindsets; people looking to explore different aspects of the self or gain access to more internal balance, connection, and contentment. You may be working through situational hurdles or life transitions; dealing with the impacts of oppression and societal conditioning; feeling unsafe in the world, disconnected from others and your own experience. Depending on your personal needs and goals, we might work together briefly or long term; focusing on solutions and paths forward, and/or unraveling some of the roots of your issues.

While I treat a variety of issues, I specialize in working with shame and anxiety , low self-worth, C-PTSD, gender exploration, trauma, and mood disorders.
Most of us carry around stories about who we are and who we should be without really knowing how we got them or if we want to keep them. Therapy is a place to gently explore and unpack these narratives. My clients want to like and understand themselves more, have better relationships, and feel more hope and possibility in their lives. They are determined and brave, but often have been trying things that aren't working or leave them more stuck. I believe every person has an innate capacity to heal, but sometimes trauma and life experiences can block those pathways and make life feel narrow and small.

Trauma leaves us feeling shattered, broken and disconnected, adding parenting to the mix can make it that much harder. You may be fed up with being stressed or triggered all the time, feeling anxious, lost, hopeless, maybe even shame for what happened to you and guilty that you can’t always be the parent you'd hoped. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to make sense of your experiences. You’re ready to re-gain control. Most of all, you’re ready to feel capable and empowered to be the parent your children need.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
