I approach my work using a client-centered, strengths-based model. I view every individual/family/couple as unique, utilizing methods and techniques best-suited for each situation. My experience includes many areas, all pertaining to individuals, couples and families. I am passionate in working with women, teens, couples and the LGBTQ community. I was trained in Family Systems Therapy; I approach therapy work holistically, focusing on the individual and extending beyond, to the interactions between family members and significant others. I work with clients to help them recognize how extended family, culture, and society may impact them as individuals.

Life can change in an instant, leaving us to navigate grief, anxiety, or transitions we never expected. Whether you're coping with loss, a health crisis, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don't have to do it alone. I offer a safe space where you can share your story, gain insight, and begin to heal. I also welcome individuals who are seeking personal growth, self-exploration, and emotional strengthening - even if they are not currently experiencing a crisis. My approach is warm, grounded, and deeply human.

I believe in tailoring the therapy to meet each client's individual needs. I primarily use psychodynamic therapy which helps the client gain self-insight but also use a variety of therapeutic techniques including mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral methods. Being able to stand back from one's self and gain perspective about one's personality, choices and actions are important in helping an individual work through issues. I help the client explore what issues from the past or present may be contributing to depression or anxiety.

I work with trauma, OCD, pregnancy/ postpartum issues, and sleep issues.
You are a high performer. You are used to succeeding, and have high expectations for yourself as a physician, professional, or parent. But, lately it's feeling harder than usual to meet your own expectations for success. You're feeling worn out, you're having trouble sleeping, you're stressed and you just aren't sure how to cope. You want to feel in control again, but need a little help figuring out the steps to take to get you there.

Hello! Welcome to therapy. I’m Madeleine. If you are seeking therapy, you may be struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, family/relationship issues, or perhaps you just need someone to talk to without fear of being judged. I use a collaborative approach and believe that you are the expert in your own life. We will work together to identify any patterns of behavior that you feel are interfering with your life, discuss the ways your family, environment, and society may be reinforcing these, and develop the skills to alter or cope with these patterns more effectively.

I support clients struggling with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, & grief; trauma, abuse, & neglect, relationship issues; pregnancy, postpartum & unexpected loss; and religious harm & faith transitions.
Do you struggle with people pleasing, find it hard to tell others how you really feel, or find yourself getting caught in the same old argument in your relationship? Or maybe you were raised by emotionally immature parents who could not provide the emotional support you needed? If you have tried to change but find yourself stuck in repeating patterns, together we can explore the beliefs and unmet needs that drive these patterns. I believe that when someone really sees you, you can begin to see yourself more clearly, learn new ways to relate to others, heal from past hurts, and open up a path to deeper connection, meaning, and joy.

research explored these patterns and I have advanced certifications in Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy (SCIP) and Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C), using a science-backed, results-driven approach to help you build confidence and clarity.
As humans we often spend our days holding ourselves to impossible standards and mistaking self-judgment for motivation. While self-criticism may sometimes push us forward, it more often fuels stress, anxiety, and self-doubt. Research shows that self-compassion is a far more effective path to resilience, easing psychological distress while strengthening confidence, motivation, and overall well-being. More importantly, it helps us pursue our goals and live in alignment with our values. However, the true challenge lies in learning to practice self-compassion actively in a way that is both meaningful and lasting in our lives.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
