I work with people coping with trauma and stress, especially stressors related to substance use, family of origin, parenting , relationship issues, and abuse. The cumulative worry, grief, exhaustion, and loss of hope that so often accompany these challenges can leave you feeling overwhelmed and alone. In our sessions, we will work together on short-term relief, along with deeper explorations oriented towards lasting change. New ways of relating to yourself and others bring about new experiences that reignite your sense of hope and nurture change. I offer calm, thoughtful, nonjudgmental support to you and your family on your journey.

I provide psychotherapy to individuals and couples. I also do hypnotherapy and psychological evaluations. My theoretical orientation depends on your needs and the type of therapy you are seeking. In order for psychotherapy to be effective, there must be openness and trust, commitment to change, and an attitude of collaboration between client and therapist. Together we will explore the problems that led you into therapy, discuss your past as it is relevant to your present situation, and establish goals for your treatment.

You’re maxed out. People around you think you have it all together, while internally you’re imploding. You feel like you’re never doing enough and you could better control everything if you just tried harder. Maybe you struggle with a disordered relationship with your body or food. If you're wanting to free yourself from the constant worry cycle you find yourself in, then I would love to partner with you. Together we will create an environment that feels safe for you to give voice to your current struggles.

We believe that therapy is an important life choice that people make when things get tough. This courageous decision must be honored with compassion, empathy, and sincerity. I began this practice because I am passionate about helping people and sharing in their journey towards greater health and happiness. It is important for people to feel safe in therapy, and thus people can feel free to say what is on their minds and in their hearts and will always be met with compassionate understanding.

Only Sees Adults, over +18. My focus is on helping people improve themselves and help them enjoy their lives. I think sometimes to get better outcomes, if we might want to change our behaviors/thoughts/feelings. Typically I use DBT, CBT and behavioral techniques that might help us make some changes. An engaged client that puts in some effort during session and/or towards their treatment plan that usually does best.

You feel misunderstood and unheard. College/work stresses you out, family conflict makes you anxious, and sometimes you feel like things are impossible. As a young adult, you feel a heavyweight on your shoulders. You’ve got all kinds of people giving you advice, telling you what to do, and trying to run your life. You’re confused and overwhelmed. You’re stuck between wanting to make your own decisions and feeling like you’re not in control. You’re at this awkward stage. You’re technically an adult...but maybe you don’t feel ready for all of the responsibilities of adulthood.

Welcome! I am so glad you are here! I am passionate about client care and developing a therapeutic rapport. I believe our emotional health depends on our abilities to embrace our feelings, move toward social interest and attaining goals of self-worth relationships, work, and life in general. Our emotional and mental health suffers when there is inconsistencies between the image we have of ourselves and the world around us. My goal is to help clients gain accurate perceptions of who they are in the world and the world around them by giving clients the support and tools needed to traverse the difficult terrains of life.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
