You may feel like your brain works differently than the world expects it to. Maybe focus, organization, or motivation feel harder than they “should,” leaving you overwhelmed, frustrated, or constantly trying to catch up. Many people with ADHD or other forms of neurodivergence grow up feeling misunderstood or like they simply need to try harder. Together, we'll address the narratives that have formed from childhood, family, and culture. In therapy, we can work together to better understand how your mind works, build strategies that actually fit your brain, and create more self-compassion and balance in your daily life.

Life carries us in some ways, and we carry the experiences of our lives across every terrain we walk. Sometimes talking about our experiences can help with how we carry forward. I welcome the opportunity to hear what moves you, what you dread, and what you love, in this precious and vulnerable existence we call life. It may be in conversation we can nourish and deepen your resonance, your presence and your day to day care.

I offer a setting for individuals to heal from the difficulties of life in a safe and respectful environment. I work with adults to develop adaptive coping skills, increase insight into maladaptive patterns, and improve emotional regulation. I have extensive experience supporting parents and families, as well as individuals navigating life transitions, stress-related concerns, and trauma-related symptoms. I value working with clients who are dedicated and motivated to engage in the process of change. Growth often requires examining long-standing thought patterns and behaviors, which can be challenging—but not impossible.

Many people decide to come to counseling because they feel stuck. Often, this "stuckness" is based on a belief or value that has been imposed by someone else. Sometimes, we need help to break out of an unhelpful "mold." My goal is to build a unique relationship in your life where I can provide an unbiased, outsiders perspective on the situations and emotions you are dealing with. Life can be good, and life can also be really hard. How do you cope with the hard stuff? I seem to click really well with teens and young adults. I enjoy working with anyone one-on-one and will do my best to provide a safe and accepting environment.

Each of us finds unique ways to make sense of our experiences, and for some, compulsive sexual behavior can become an escape from the challenges we face. I connect deeply with individuals struggling with sex addiction, as I understand the profound impact it can have on one’s life.

I believe we are all creatures who seek deep meaning in our lives, through our desires, longings, joys, fears, sufferings and losses. We are also created for connection with others, and while these relationships have the potential to bring great joy, they may also bring great pain and struggle. Whether from relational discord or brokenness, or due to other circumstances in life, we can often fall into questioning, doubt and suffering, which can lead us to feeling stuck and overwhelmed in our lives. I offer a warm and supportive environment, where together we may address the areas of concern that you bring.

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.
Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?
Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.
How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?
Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.
Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?
While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.
Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?
The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
