I believe most psychotherapy is essentially trauma therapy. Trauma comes in many forms from single life-threatening events to chronic unmet needs. As a client, we will take a close look at you-in-context and how trauma has impacted you. I frequently utilize mindfulness techniques within evidenced-based modalities (such as IFS, ACT, CBT). I treat adult individuals and all genders, couples and families, and regularly serve the LGBTQ population. I work with many insurances and will bill your insurance company if I am out-of-network. Many insurance plans have partial reimbursement for out-of-network providers.

For 20+ years I have been providing individual psychotherapy. You might be thinking about therapy because you have a sense that something is wrong or something hurts. Sometimes all you know is you have not felt happy for a long time. Perhaps you are experiencing confusion about a relationship or are having anxiety or depression. You have Bipolar Disorder or ADHD and want help beyond medications. Perhaps you are going through a transition such as divorce. You may find yourself up against the "same old problems" at work or home. You may be trying to manage trauma. I can help.

Let's face it... we all need deep, meaningful relationships with the most important people in our lives and great communication is the necessary cornerstone of those relationship. Feeling heard and having our views fully validated and supported by each other is essential to really connecting. Creating a "safe space" to be open and vulnerable with each other is also necessary. However, connecting with each other on an "emotional level" is the real key to happiness and fulfillment in our relationships and knowing how to do that is the ultimate goal. So why are some people challenged with emotional awareness and connection?

You are capable of resolving toxic patterns and healing the psychic wounds that have interfered with your ability to maintain intimacy, be present with your children, trust yourself in creative processes, and show up to a world that is waiting for your uniqueness. A therapeutic relationship can offer an incredible opportunity in learning to love yourself, trust yourself, and surprise yourself with your inherent capacities. If you are experiencing deep despair, that may all sound like meaningless words. If you are spinning with anxieties, these words may have no ground.

The cornerstone of my practice is the belief that actual connection with a real human being will go further than any single psychological theory (or AI model, for that matter). My degree is in clinical psychology with an emphasis in applied existentialism, which really just means applied humanity. I am a pragmatist and find mental and emotional health is contingent on meeting everyone where they are, rather than where anyone thinks they "should" be. I take pride in my honesty, compassion, and faith in humanity's ability to overcome. I truly love helping people through hard times, and look forward to helping you however I can.

Accepting New Clients after 5PM and on Weekends virtually. My ideal client is someone facing depression, anxiety, trauma, , addiction, or psychosis—sometimes all at once. They may feel overwhelmed, struggle with relationships, or carry the weight of past experiences. What they seek is grounding, connection, and a life that feels meaningful on their own terms. They're ready to take a first step—not to fix everything, but to be seen, heard, and supported as we work toward their goals together.

Sometimes life feels unsettled—after a loss, a major transition, or when old struggles keep resurfacing. You may be carrying anxiety, depression, grief, or the lingering impact of trauma. At other times, it can feel less clear, more like something inside is “off” or holding you back. What unites many people I work with is the wish not only for relief, but for a deeper understanding of themselves and a more authentic way of living. Even if the exact shape of that change isn’t yet clear, therapy can be a space to begin exploring what might be possible.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
