I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression , mood swings, and PTSD. My approach is strengths-based and collaborative. I work with clients to enhance personal strengths while offering additional tools found in cognitive-behavioral treatments and DBT mindfulness-based skills. When indicated, I incorporate EMDR to treat PTSD; reduce anxiety and depression symptoms; and strengthen coping skills including spiritual resources. For clients seeking insight into how early relationships may be impacting their current relationships and well-being, I offer exploration in an accepting, interactive therapy relationship.

I specialize in working with people experiencing anxiety, depression , self esteem issues, trauma, and relationship issues.
I believe that to successfully address the issues you bring to therapy, it is necessary for us to establish a confidential and trusting relationship. We will explore your thoughts and feelings in relation to the problems that made you seek therapy, establish goals for your treatment, and discuss your personal history, as it is relevant to your present situation. Through both of our efforts, we will do the best we can to achieve a successful outcome.

Life is a roller coaster! So many things have been changing around you that it’s been hard to get your head on straight. Between the ages of 16-65 women have so many roles to play these days, and you’ve been doing your best to keep up. But somehow you always feel like you aren’t doing it “right”. Family, school, work, friends – you’re always expected to perform and rarely get a moment to relax. Expectations come from all sides. The pressure keeps building and you’re just about ready to explode. Anxiety and depression take over. You don’t know how to cope with it all. Your days become exhausting.

As a depth-oriented therapist, I believe there are reasons why people struggle with anxiety, depression , and relationship issues.
Life is challenging, and we often come to a point where we need to reach out for help. Whether we are feeling overwhelmed or just stuck in life, we all need a place where we feel safe, seen, and known. I strive to make therapy that empathetic space where you can open up about your struggles.

I work with people to encourage them to practice self-acceptance and improve their relationships. For many people, the difficulty they are experiencing began with early learning. Sometimes the beliefs we carry about ourselves are at the root of anxiety and depression . Sometimes there are issues of trauma that need more resolution. With time, understanding and support, you can improve your life. In working with clients my first step is to build an understanding of the issues and the person/persons in front of me as well as I can. From there it's a process of finding what skills and techniques work for you. It does get better.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
