Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists in Mercer Island, WA
My approach to therapy is integrative in the truest sense: I work from established, evidence-based therapies, maintaining their fidelity while combining and adapting them to the individual sitting in front of me. Rather than fitting people into pre-set models or offering vague support, I collaborate with clients to understand how their inner world operates, how it shapes their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and choices. My work is grounded in cognitive, behavioral, and psychodynamic theories and interventions. This approach allows therapy to remain both meaningful and practical.

Therapy is a space to come home to yourself. Together, we will create a safe and compassionate place to breathe as we listen to what your heart and body are trying to say. In the quiet of that listening, new understanding begins to unfold. Old pain softens, self-trust returns, and you start to feel more alive, connected, and whole. My work is to walk beside you as you rediscover the deeper rhythm of your own healing.

Through Internal Family Systems (IFS) and trauma-informed therapy, we create space for the parts of you that are tired, numb, or overworked to finally be heard—so you can feel grounded, clear, and whole again.

I'm Hannah and I specialize in supporting adult daughters of narcissistic & emotionally immature mothers through their grief, rage, confusion, and build their lives back up again.
If you're an adult daughter who feels like she's never measuring up no matter what she does, this might be for you. Many of the women who reach out to me are coming to terms with their relationship with their mothers who are critical, demanding, and in a constant state of victimhood. Your story may sound similar. You know the pain of constantly trying and still being besieged by guilt, like you can't ever get it right. The frustrating part is that your mom will never understand the role she has played in how you relate to yourself, nor will she ever apologize for it.

Hello! Embarking on a course of therapy can feel incredibly vulnerable. The demands placed on your time, energy, trust and finances are significant. On top of that, many people come to therapy after having already experienced a variety of invalidating interactions when attempting to open up to others. For that reason, I am particularly sensitive to the importance of hearing your story with curiosity, empathy, open-mindedness and humility. Therapy works best when you are in the driver’s seat and my role is to support your agency by guiding you towards making the healthiest choices possible based on YOUR identity, values, and needs.

As it turns out, "just don’t stress” isn’t very helpful, and “adulting” includes everything we should have been taught in grade school.
Most people don't seek therapy because life is going exactly as planned. They come because they’re tired of just surviving and are ready to start living again.
Pain has a way of rewriting the stories we tell ourselves. It can quietly change the way we see ourselves, others, and sometimes even God. But healing lets you write the next chapter by uncovering the person you’ve always been beneath survival mode, people pleasing, fear, stress, and self doubt.

We know that a transformation can happen when we want to change for ourselves. We need to believe in ourselves enough to know that a change is possible. I want to help my clients feel better by understanding themselves. I strive to be a therapist who is competent, ethical and compassionate. I have been a clinical social worker since 2002 and I have been grateful to work with families, couples, adults and children. I use humor and warmth to build connection. I use an intersectional lens. I also have a podcast about estrangement. Please schedule time to talk to me if you think we would be a good fit.

Most of my clients are women carrying trauma woven into relationship — a partner's betrayal, a narcissistic parent, a mother who couldn't show up.
Therapy Intensives for High Achieving, Reflective Women Ready to Live with True Autonomy. You're an ambitious woman realizing the patterns that got you here can't take you forward. From the outside, things look impressive. From the inside, you're tired in a way that rest doesn't touch. The "not good enough" whisper never quite leaves. Maybe you're navigating betrayal, the erosion of a relationship, or the long shadow of a mother who couldn't show up. You've done a lot of personal work and still feel stuck between what you understand and feel and how you live.

Seeking therapy can be a daunting process, while also being one step toward greater wholeness/healing. Relationship is where we are both wounded and healed. I work with individuals seeking relief from distressing symptoms such as; demanding too much of yourself, finding it hard to trust self, trust your own experience, self-soothing through addictive behaviors, pleasing others at your own expense, anxiety, depression, CPTSD. Our patterns of relating develop early within our first attachments, so our journey might include visiting some of those relationships to wonder how they impact you in the here and now.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.
How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.
Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.
How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
