Life can be hard but you don't have to struggle alone. Whether you are dealing with past hurts, caught up with worries about the future, or struggling with the day to day, we can find your unique path to a better tomorrow. Trauma can affect us in all of these ways. Sometimes it is obviously trauma and sometimes it madquerades as depression or anxiety. However your struggles are presenting, I can help you find your path to healing, hope, and even uncover some joy along the way. It would be a priviledge to walk with you on your healing path.

Being a human is hard. Let’s talk about it! Thankfully, gone are the days when we thought of therapy as only being necessary if you had REALLY big issues. In a post-pandemic world that often feels like a dumpster fire, we all know now that everyone could benefit from a little therapy, even if only to have a space to cry and vent. While I am certainly happy to hold space for tears and venting, I am also very passionate about helping folks get in touch with their higher self.

My ideal clients often struggle with big emotions, intense relationships, and feeling deeply misunderstood. Many have been labeled with BPD or carry the weight of complex trauma. They crave clarity, stability, and connection—but don’t always know where to start. They're ready to break old patterns, understand themselves more fully, and build real-life skills for emotional regulation, healing, and creating a life that finally feels worth living.

Crikey! What do all those therapist letters actually mean? If you’ve been scanning these profiles and wondering about LMHC, LICSW, LMFT, SUDP, CCTP, or CMHS—you’re not alone. LMHC (mental health), LICSW (person + systems), LMFT (relationships), SUDP (substance use). An “A” means Associate—newer, supervised, often with fresh training. Psychologists do assessments such as adhd; psychiatrists prescribe. The letters matter far less than the relationship: feeling safe, understood, and genuinely connected is what actually makes therapy work. Give me a call for a free 15 minute consult and you can see if I feel like a good fit.

I enjoy helping others find meaningful, authentic ways of connecting in their relationships and communities. Those I work with tend to feel a lack of connection or authenticity in their life. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process in which we get to recontextualize our experiences through truthful and empowering reframes. This includes curiosity in how your identity and lived experience has shaped your worldview. I am professionally and personally passionate about geek and gaming culture and am comfortable weaving this into therapy when appropriate. Additionally, I work with a lot of young adults in the tech industry.

When someone finds out I'm a psychotherapist, this question often comes next: "How can you listen to problems all day?" My response? "Oh no, that's not my job; I watch people become their best selves!" With 35 years of experience, fostering a client's voice and co-creating a road map are key to reaching goals. As a young adult client, my talk therapy allowed me to tell my story of deep hurts, wins and losses, hopes, and big dreams-ultimately learning who I am, uniquely, in this world. It was the transformational power and deep respect of the therapy process that drew me to become a clinician.

Has life been really hard on you lately? Have you been here multiple times looking up counselors trying to decide if now’s the time to finally reach out for help? Has things become so overwhelming that life just seems like too much to handle anymore? If you say, “how the hell did I get here?” multiple times a day, you’re in the right place. “I think I need help” is the scariest sentence to say, but when you do, I promise it’s the most freeing feeling imaginable. You feel this way now, but you don’t have to stay in pain forever. Asking for help is the first step in healing. Take that first step now.

You're probably trying really hard to keep it together—on the outside, you're functioning, but inside, you feel disconnected, anxious, or stuck in patterns that don’t serve you. You might feel shame about how heavy it all feels, or like your emotions are “too much.” You’re craving the space to be fully seen—without having to mask or explain yourself.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
