I’m a mom who’s wrestled with postpartum depression, identity loss, and the gut-punch reality that motherhood isn’t always magical.
I specialize in working with those who carry invisible wounds from childhood and/or trauma and are tired of pretending they’re fine. I also support those who feel like they’re losing themselves in the relentless demands of life. I use a trauma-informed, relational, humanistic, strengths-based approach.

Whether a pregnancy is planned or unexpected, every experience is shaped by personal circumstances, support systems, and life stressors.
These experiences are far more common than most people realize, yet they’re rarely talked about openly. As a mother who has navigated some of these challenges myself, I understand how important it is for women and families to have meaningful support during this time. This inspired me to pursue advanced training in perinatal mental health so I can help.

When did life become a monotonous routine, leaving you emotionally drained and feeling unfulfilled? You long for deeper connections and meaningful relationships, but that’s overshadowed by disappointment or isolation. You’re repeating the same patterns, preventing yourself from experiencing what you deserve. As a parent, you feel like you’re always falling short. Making the smallest decision leaves you overwhelmed and second guessing yourself. Relationships can bring immense joy, but also have the ability to become so draining. They can cause an overwhelming amount of stress and make you question your own self-worth and judgment.

Clients that I typically see are facing the routine problems of life. Stress, marital/family issues, anxiety and problems related to school, work, and everyday living. I work frequently with 1st responders/military. They may have experienced challenges that are unique due to abuse or trauma. In therapy we learn that we have the tools within us to gain perspective and hope, that we can take good care of ourselves and those in our care. Ultimately, the end goal is that we get to a place where therapy may no longer be needed other than an occasional check in.

My ideal client is anyone ready to do shadow work — not just talk about symptoms, but meet the parts of themselves they've avoided or managed instead of understood. You're tired of fluff and being told to just think positive. You want someone who'll sit in the mess with you. I have a particular pull toward the military community, carrying a weight this culture rarely knows how to hold; women untangling who they are outside who they've had to be for others; families breaking cycles instead of repeating them; and those navigating addiction. This work is for anyone ready to stop pretending to be fine.

Are you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed? Sometimes life brings us to a place where we need to reach out and find help. If this is you, I would love to partner with you and help you find the solution that best fits your needs. Healing starts with connection and finding the space for yourself to discover what is happening within yourself. Counseling is most effective when there is a connection with your therapist while discovering the triggers, patterns, and thoughts that often interrupt your quality of life.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
