I work with a large range of issues including parenting issues, adjustment to life changes, depression, anxiety, women's issues, postpartum issues and strengthening connections between couples and family members.
We all go through challenges in life that feel overwhelming and unmanageable. Choosing to find someone who can assist you through this time is a great gift to yourself and those that love you. An important part of this process is finding a therapist who you feel comfortable with and can trust. I provide a safe and supportive environment to work on these issues together and to find a better understanding around how to make positive change in your life. I offer space to explore your issue and also practical feedback around changes that could positively influence the issue at hand.

My ideal clients are those navigating the echoes of trauma, acute PTSD, or complex grief who feel "stuck" in survival modes like fight, flight, or freeze. They often sense that their mind and body are disconnected, or that traditional talk therapy hasn't reached the "knots" held within. I help you move forward by acting as a partner in unraveling conditioned layers to rediscover your authentic self. Together, we shift from survival strategies to conscious choice, expanding your window of tolerance and capacity for profound, empowered alignment.

People thrive when they are connected to others, but the pain, stress, and struggles of life often leave us feeling very alone. My practice includes individuals, couples, and families who are wanting to find solace in their experiences. I connect with clients by creating safety, understanding their unique point of view, focusing on their strengths, and collaborating with them to build a plan for treatment. My clients find space in their world to find hope in the midst of pain, courageously explore change, set goals, embrace healthy beliefs, learn new skills, make positive life choices, achieve balance, and heal.

I believe one flourishes in life through developing meaningful, healthy relationships. In my view, counseling is a means of healing within a relational context. I approach counseling from a Biblical lens, holding the belief that having a relationship with and knowing one’s true identity in Christ is the ultimate source of genuine and lasting healing. While this is my worldview, I gladly work with those who do not ascribe to the same belief system.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re explaining yourself over and over and still not quite being understood, you’re not alone. A lot of the queer and LGBTQ+ adults I work with come in feeling stuck, discouraged, or unsure whether therapy can actually help after past experiences that missed the mark. I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 30 years of experience. Most of my clients are queer adults, and I try to offer a space where you don’t have to overthink your words or explain who you are.

Most clients I work with have a lot of anxiety or other mood or trauma-related issues & our efforts together are usually geared towards either understanding those feelings & where they come from, developing ways to minimize the impact &/or developing healthier ways of coping.
Lets face it- everyone needs a little help sometimes. Moods fluctuate; every-day stressors pile up; we argue with loved ones, experience trauma and loss; and constant change demands us to adapt. Basically, life is known to throw us curveballs and some of those can be quite daunting. The good news, though, is you don't have to go through it alone. If you're looking for support and encouragement, new skills to cope, a fresh perspective, solutions, or simply just someone to talk to, I'm here for you. Please note I am now extending my work to couples as well, borrowing a mix of EFT and Gottman approaches.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
