I created Stable Ground Therapy in order to bring Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy to those who are left out of the trauma and PTSD conversation: First Responders, LGBTQ+ community, as well as other communities. By partnering with a horse and a co-therapist like myself, you can start your journey towards healing on stable ground.

I work with individuals living with trauma , anxiety, depression, grief, and isolation.
Many of us learn early on that our belonging in this world depends on our ability to banish aspects of ourselves that cannot be safely held by others. We skillfully fold and shrink ourselves into the shapes that allow us to survive, sometimes with great reward for doing so, but find that our deepest longings go unmentioned and unmet. I am here to hold space for those parts which are too big, too unbearable to be held alone, so that my clients can expand in ways that help them contact their feelings, connect to their desires, and begin to find a home in the world.

I am currently offering Telehealth appointments specializing in building self-compassion, DBT/mindfulness and trauma informed recovery practices.
Something profound happens when your most authentic self is met with unconditional acceptance and validation. I believe Brene Brown says it best, 'Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.' To bravely give ourselves permission to show up when we're depressed, overwhelmed, hungover, irritable, enraged, lost or simply disappointed. Or when we feel we are 'too much' for some and 'not enough' for others. It can be deeply meaningful to have a space where you can fill it with all of who you are, without apology or shame, and feel truly seen and accepted.

Trauma Informed Treatment covers a range of different therapy methods to suit your therapeutic needs.
Dr. Lintin understands how stepping into your truth may be frightening. There is no right way to uncover emotions that may be blocking you from living a fulfilled life. Everyone has stories to tell, unique, inspiring, challenging and sometimes devastating. The shocking thing is that many people walk through life without ever sharing these life events and so often with trauma , the guilt and shame can stop you from telling anyone causing difficulties in your relationships with others in both personal and professional life.

If you're 20(+) years old and ready to shift unhelpful patterns and trauma responses, feel free to message me to set up a 15-minute complimentary consultation to see if I may be a good fit for your needs.
Do you feel like past experiences continue to impact your daily life (ie. relationships with others, relationship with yourself, etc.)? Would you like to feel more at peace with your past and grounded in the present? Our past experiences form the foundations for the ways in which we think, feel, move, relate, cope, and operate throughout our lives. Talk/skills-based therapies are helpful in building awareness and stabilization, and body-oriented approaches are useful in processing past traumas because these are often stored physically in our bodies.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
