It takes courage to seek help. Whether you are trying to make an important decision, facing a crisis, or in the middle of a major transition in your life, it makes sense to seek counsel. Something has shifted, and the coping strategies that used to carry you through are not quite holding the weight anymore. My clients are adults who want to think carefully about what is happening to them and make meaningful choices about what comes next. You do not have to have the answers when you arrive. You need the space to slow down, hear yourself, and work through it with someone who is genuinely in your corner.

Life comes with joy and pain, love and anger, accomplishments and mess-ups, and sometimes confusion. The times when we struggle and feel stuck or confused as individuals, as couples & as parents are often signals that it’s time to grow. I work collaboratively with my clients and have great success utilizing techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as Narrative and Psychodynamic therapy to treat trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, grief and eating disorders. I also work with individuals, couples and families facing every day parenting, life and relationship challenges.

Life leaves us feeling stuck, anxious, confused and alone. Instead of living, you are just surviving, life does not have to be survived, it can be lived with freedom. You learned how to be in this world through relationship, and it is through a safe relationship that new ways of relating are created. I am committed to creating a safe place to work with individuals to regain a sense of fullness and purpose for their lives

Some people ask why I became a couples therapist, and my response is: "I was born a therapist." I enjoy the uniqueness of each client and their situation, how they have attempted to solve their problems, and how they are stuck. There are many situations that are similar among clients, but the interplay with each individual and their situation is infinite. Congruency for me is key. Being the person I ask others to be, holding each person with tenderness and creativity while we move toward their goals is transformative in the therapeutic process.

We're accepting new clients! Hi my name is Isabelle Grogan. I work with teens, adults, couples, and families. I have experience working with clients facing mental health challenges related to eating disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and behavioral issues. I believe that therapy is a place where real healing can happen. In this space, experiences can be processed, words can be put to your story, and stories can be wrestled with. It helps to provide comfort in the unknown, allows someone to bear witness to the pain, and can teach us more about relationships we may seek.

You’re exhausted by the constant pressure—the weight on your chest, the hum of anxiety that won’t quiet down. Old wounds still echo, and what once felt like an escape may now feel like a trap. You’re not just looking to cope anymore; you’re ready to feel lighter, to rediscover joy, and to create a life that feels meaningful. You want a therapist who’s direct but compassionate, someone who can offer real tools, a touch of humor, and an honest connection as you navigate the hard stuff. You’re ready to dig in and do the work for real, lasting change.

I work best with people who are looking for help with their issues and are willing to try new approaches to the way they go through life. People who realize that most of the work in psychotherapy is done outside of the office do well with me. I personalize treatment to the individual, and use proven techniques along with "homework assignments" where appropriate, to facilitate long lasting change and improvement in quality of life.

Life overwhelms us all at times. As a counselor, I meet you in those difficult parts of life, accompany you on your unique journey to redemption, healing and wholeness, helping you secure meaningful and lasting change. Together we name your problems and find their solutions; both the issues and the solutions are unique to you. Often we are pressured to "profile" ourselves-to label or describe ourselves in an way so that allows others to quickly "peg" who we are. But we are much more complex-- each of us has a story to tell. Each narrative has a distinctive trajectory.

Do you ever feel like you can't find peace? Stress and anxiety are challenges on their own. When they begin to impact other parts of our lives and lead to chronic health conditions, life can feel overwhelming. Sometimes it can feel as though there is never time to rest, or maybe you've forgotten what rest even feels like. If that's the case, you're not alone. The pace of our modern world is not in alignment with how our nervous systems are built to function. That's why I specialize in nervous system regulation and helping individuals to cultivate resilient and adaptive nervous systems.

You’ve been circling the same challenges for too long & it’s wearing you out. Anxiety, stress & trauma keep showing up no matter how hard you try. You’ve tried all the things & put in real effort, yet the peace and joy you’re searching for still feel out of reach. Giving up feels close, even though you know you don’t want to quit. Injuries still haunt you, showing you what still needs healing. You’ve tried therapy and gained some useful tools, but you’re still craving deep, lasting change. You’re done with band-aids and surface-level fixes. You’re ready for something deeper. Something that will bring greater peace & joy in life.

What we control in life is limited to our own inner world. We influence those around us, but the outcome is not up to us. That truth can feel like a burden when you are in the middle of something painful, and it can feel like a door when you realize it means there is still one place where your work matters. My clients are adults navigating grief, major life transitions, relationship strain, and the kind of slow rebuilding that happens after a chapter closes. Resilience is the strongest predictor of a contented life, and it can be built at any age, through any season.

You have been through something. Maybe a single hard event you have not fully recovered from, or a string of them that have left the version of yourself you remember hard to reach. Now you are navigating a relationship that keeps repeating the same painful pattern, a major life transition that has knocked you off balance, or trauma that still shows up in places you thought you had moved past. My clients are adults who are ready to be heard, understood, and empowered as they work through what they are carrying. You are looking for resilience, healthier relationships, and a real sense of control over your life again.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in North Rose Hill?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
