Many of the clients I work with are navigating postpartum depression, infertility struggles, or the pressure of balancing work, relationships, and parenting.
I see therapy as a partnership where we work together to find the approach that fits you best. Using CBT, DBT, solution focused therapy and EMDR, we focus on practical tools that support daily life while exploring patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is to help you build clarity, confidence, and skills you can use outside of session.

I believe healing begins in a safe, supportive space where your story is honored without judgment. My role is to walk alongside you as we explore the challenges you’re facing, uncover your strengths, and move toward the life you want to create. I integrate evidence-based practices with a holistic approach, because I know lasting growth comes from caring for the whole person. Hi, I’m Donna, MSW Therapist and Wholistic Life Coach. I’m elated to serve you during your most vital transitions and help you succeed on the path that best suits your ability to live optimally. Life can be a challenge, I know. I am also aware that with every obstacle comes solutions that are viable for maintaining better outcomes. Particularly, there are times when we have to identify and examine uncomfortable behavioral patterns and dynamics that impede on our ability to function at our best. Confronting these limitations can often times feel like shame and guilt, and disassemble our ability to possess compassion for our process

My therapy work is rooted in a systemic approach with children, adolescents, couples, and families experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting challenges, grief, etc... . Through my own identities and experiences as a 1.5 generation immigrant from the Philippines, being raised in Los Angeles, and as an educator for over 20 years, I understand the impact of harm and losses that carry from generation to generation caused by systems that are not made for us. They surface in our lives and within our relationships.

The world we live in is an ever changing and fast paced place that can often times add complexities to our lives, our relationships, our internal thoughts and emotions that we didn’t anticipate or were not ready for. In these times it can be helpful to seek therapy to have someone support your growth into the person you want to be in a respectful, empathetic, and judgment-free environment.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
