I work with high functioning individuals who experience anxiety and depression which may look like perfectionism, fear of saying no, or disappointing others, self doubt, and negative self talk or maybe it looks totally different for you. I work with single people who are tired of dating the wrong people and really want to get it right the next time. My clients are intelligent and work hard but don't always believe in themselves. You may be feeling stuck or at a cross road and need to figure out what to do next and advice from friends and
family
isn't working anymore and you need something different. I can help you find clarity.

family
system. In treatment, we look at how your
family
of origin impacts how and where you may be stuck. Whether it is anxiety, depression, anger or an addiction, we can discover the source of the problem and help you reach your potential.

You tell yourself that if you just do everything perfectly, you’ll feel okay. As long as the house is spotless. And your
family
is ideal (or at least looks that way on social media.) If you always say yes, constantly keep a smile on your face, and never complain about anything – then everything should be fine. But no matter how hard you try, you can’t shake this feeling of dread. And all of your efforts to appear perfect are taking a toll. To-do lists never end. No one seems to know the real you. You’re terrified that at any moment, there’ll be a crack in your mask and everyone will see you for who you truly are; this cant go on.

) & systemic
family therapy
enables me to understand & effectively work with the individual & relationship aspects of the situation.
We will not try to make you do what somebody else wants you to do. We start with your goals & find ways to help you develop the necessary skills. We have found that, if a person's individual wishes are not represented in the solution, it will not work in the long run. So there is a strong emphasis on helping each person take responsibility and control over their own happiness. Some things are better handled individually, and some things are better handled with both people in the room. Our unique blend of individual & couples therapy is quite effective.

Everything we do involves relationships; so when we are not feeling effective in this part of our lives, other parts suffer as well. Over the past twenty five years I have worked on relationships with teenagers and adults through individual,
family
and couples work. My specialty is effective communication coaching in order to get needs met in relationships. I do this through the lens of
family
systems work, asking thoughtful questions and offering perspective. Anyone who is willing to walk through the therapy door and want more out of their relationships is who I welcome in my office.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
