Grief Therapists in Kenmore, WA
It is my goal to foster psychological flexibility, personal accountability, congruence, and access to life force energy for the people that I am serving. I strive to increase their capacity to have a full range of experience. It is my hope that ultimately when people gain a bird's eye perspective of themselves that they will rest in self compassion for themselves and ultimately be free to be their authentic selves and recognize their wholeness. By weaving curiosity, openness, acceptance and love into the therapeutic process we can begin healing.

I enjoy helping all individuals throughout their life span; however as we go through our seasons of life, anxiety, depression, grief, and loneliness can be prevalent emotions that impede our everyday life: you deserve a fresh start and positive change!
My specialty is the aging process and the physical, behavioral, and emotional changes that occur as we age. Families, teens, couples, and extended family are a unit that cannot be ignored. How are you affected by your loved ones? What can you do to nurture one another as you experience the aging process as a family unit?

You’ve been circling the same challenges for too long & it’s wearing you out. Anxiety, stress & trauma keep showing up no matter how hard you try. You’ve tried all the things & put in real effort, yet the peace and joy you’re searching for still feel out of reach. Giving up feels close, even though you know you don’t want to quit. Injuries still haunt you, showing you what still needs healing. You’ve tried therapy and gained some useful tools, but you’re still craving deep, lasting change. You’re done with band-aids and surface-level fixes. You’re ready for something deeper. Something that will bring greater peace & joy in life.

I understand the unique challenges that can come with exploring identity, navigating relationships, and finding your place in a world that doesn’t always make space for difference. In our work together, we explore how your attachment patterns and lived experiences have shaped the way you relate to yourself and others. We make space for every part of you, even the ones that feel the most difficult or vulnerable. Throughout it all, you are met with compassion, curiosity, and a steady belief in your capacity to grow, heal, and relate to yourself and others in new ways.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy is a research validated method in which partners learn to identify harmful and entrenched patterns within their marriage and develop the skills to engage in a new way. Your relationship may be highly reactive and conflictual or feel like an emotional desert where closeness disappeared long ago. In either case, EFT can help you create a partnership that is nourishing and a haven for personal growth. I am an advanced practitioner of EFT. I work with both heterosexual and same sex couples.

Is anxiety making life feel heavy and out of control? Are you constantly exhausted from trying to hold everything together—to survive—and you can’t remember the last time you got a break from the mental load? So many of the people I work with struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, shame, and feeling like they have to keep pushing through no matter how overwhelmed they are. For a lot of us, these patterns are connected to earlier experiences of growing up in religious or high-pressure family environments where expectations felt rigid, and love, belonging & worth were conditional.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
