If you are in a moment of trying to navigate emotional pain, you are in the right place. Reaching out for support takes courage and wisdom. With all the demand on your time, energy and attention, there is an unreasonable expectation for you to have to take care of everything, both in your external life (work, relationships, finances, etc) and internal life (your emotions, thoughts and patterns).

Those I work with tend to seek therapy with a bit of a different cadence. Maybe you feel like you’ve revisited the same issue without much felt progress or movement, maybe feeling stuck. This is not a failure. It could mean that healing may need to be accessed in a new way, sometimes with a different approach, or maybe at a deeper level. I believe healing honors your story, not erases it. The experiences & stories that have made you, you - are valuable. I use relational EMDR to help clients move through negative belief systems, patterns, life events & intrusive symptoms.

You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure why certain patterns keep showing up in your life. I see these not as flaws, but as parts of you that have been trying to help in the best ways they know how. I’m a registered art therapist who integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) in my work with teens and adults. Together, we’ll gently explore your inner world, building understanding and compassion for the different parts of you. Art can help us access emotions and experiences that don’t always have words—no artistic experience needed.

What do all those therapist letters actually mean? If you’ve been scanning these profiles and wondering about LMHC, LICSW, LMFT, SUDP, CCTP, or CMHS—you’re not alone. LMHC (mental health), LICSW (person + systems), LMFT (relationships), SUDP (substance use). An “A” means Associate—newer, supervised, often with fresh training. Psychologists do assessments such as adhd; psychiatrists prescribe. The letters matter far less than the relationship: feeling safe, understood, and genuinely connected is what actually makes therapy work. Give me a call for a free 15 minute consult and you can see if I feel like a good fit.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
