Perinatal Mental Health encompasses all aspects of the journey to motherhood. I find that working with new moms struggling with the transition, anxiety, and depression, women working to overcome infertility, the frustration of trying to conceive, and the moms that have experienced heartbreak of loss is where my heart is. The struggles during all of these journeys can be exhausting. Whether it is sleepless nights with a newborn, anxiety and worry keeping you up at night, or the wish that you were being kept up at night because you are struggling with becoming pregnant or have had a pregnancy loss, you have a place here.

Hello and welcome! My name is Amber, and I work under the business name "Nurturing Hope Counseling". I chose this name for my business because that is what I hope we can build working together in the counseling relationship. Life is stressful and hard at times, if not all the time, so coming together to find ways to grow and strengthen our hope is something that I find key to reaching the goals we create together in counseling. Hope is that "light at the end of the tunnel" we strive for, but sometimes lose sight of in the muck of life. But, fortunately the light penetrates the dark, so together we can foster the flame of hope again.

I believe we are all here for a reason: to experience life to the fullest. To live with passion and purpose and become the best version of ourselves. If you can't remember the last time you felt passion or fulfillment, what’s holding you back? What has happened in your life that prevents you from experiencing it to the fullest? It would be my honor to help you discover how to overcome your traumas, self-limiting beliefs, and negative thoughts to live the life you were meant to.

Some of my clients find me after a lifetime of perfectionism and self-judgement, working too hard to make everything seem okay from the outside and paying too high a price for doing it. Some find me because intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors are starting to take over their lives. And some find me because they feel shame and anguish around sex or their bodies. Some couples find me when they're not sure if there's a path to reconnection after an affair, or when medical challenges shift relationship dynamics. Some find me when they feel like roommates instead of lovers or when it feels like all conversations end in conflict.

I'm glad you took the first step, and are thinking about making a change to take a different direction in your life. That's the first step, is to acknowledge that you are struggling in a particular area and you are ready to take the next steps to change that direction and start heading towards the path that you had hoped and planned for yourself. Great work already! I'm glad you are here!

Each of our lives contain periods of both great suffering and great joy. Most of these experiences are unpredictable and beyond our control, but there are resources that can help us reduce our emotional suffering and experience more wellbeing. My hope is to provide a gracious space for clients to authentically navigate the complexities of life and to support them as they access their own inner wisdom. This work often requires sifting through messages we have internalized over the years. I’m here to support my clients in this discovery and healing process and to help them develop concrete resources to utilize in real life.

In a world that can often feel heavy with forces pushing and pulling us downward in so many directions it can feel all too easy to lose track of your true self. Feeling confused and asking how did I get here? Or why me? Or, I just want to get back to myself, but I don’t even know who I am anymore. You are not alone and there is a way. I work with individuals who struggle with these same questions. Questions that arise from the struggles with trauma, anxiety, depression, attention, autism, and others. My counseling services focus on addressing the integrated person.

Hello and welcome! My work is focused on helping clients strengthen any number of dimensions in their relationships, including emotional connection, safety and intimacy, communication, conflict resolution, self- and other-confidence, trust building and repair from infidelity. I am trained in systems theory, which means I approach therapeutic work through the context of your relational systems, interactions, and feedback loops that create and perpetuate the problems, patterns, and behaviors clients are seeking to resolve. This often translates to facilitating change within the system in contrast to only within the individual.

I work through a holistic, integrative lens. Whether I’m completing an evaluation or providing therapy, it's not one size fits all. Clients most often express appreciation for my ability to validate and push for change at the same time. Sometimes I work with interns, primarily providing evaluation/assessment services, such as violence and sexual risk, forensic mitigation, personality, cognitive, adaptive functioning, etc. I do offer individual therapy and sometimes group, though it may be with a Master’s or Doctorate level intern under my supervision. I specialize in working with older teenage to older adult persons.

Are you at your wit's end trying to communicate with your ex. Are your kids constantly exposed to conflict between the two of you. Co-parenting after divorce can be difficult. Separating personal issues from parenting issues is a skill that parents find challenging. Co-parenting counseling is an opportunity to discuss problematic issues in a non-threatening environment with help from someone experienced in facilitating communication with divorce issues. You can learn to focus on parenting concerns without the intrusion of past relationship problems. Parents find that it is possible to resolve tough issues without court intervention.
