My clinical approach is based in Attachment theory and
Emotionally Focused
Therapy while also using experiential techniques, DBT and mindfulness practices.
My passion comes from life experiences & my desire to create positive changes in life. We all get stuck & that's part of being imperfectly human. There are times in life when we need someone to walk beside us in that stuckness entering the darkness - creating safety - allowing light to shine in new ways. Mindfully contemplating new ways of viewing & dealing with emotions & patterns surrounding emotions can be liberating, healing and life altering. I act as a choreographer of conversations, aimed to explore emotional connections & attachment injuries and impasses. As humans, we have a biological need to feel safe, secure & connected in our relationships.

The core of which is Humanistic and built on Attachment needs and based in
EFT
; exploring beliefs, staying present, recognizing emotions, increasing compassion of self/others, and reframing past (-) events.
I believe we are all worthy of understanding ourselves and those we love. Although it can be one of life's biggest challenges, it is equally rewarding. It is my honor, as a therapist, to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and supportive space where clients can feel seen and heard within their own unique circumstances. We will explore unseen messages and hidden feelings to identify and gently challenge patterns and protective habits that are no longer effective or helpful. I treasure working with couples and individuals as they reclaim themselves, find clarity, and gain more meaning in their lives & their relationships.

I see the fact that you are here looking for a therapist as immensely brave. I honor your courage. I genuinely love people. My personal experiences with childhood trauma, family relationships, religion, and the sciences have granted me opportunities to empathize with and understand a diverse range of emotional, mental, and relational issues and to apply effective treatment methods for my clients. I am aware that my privilege and life opportunities require me to be intentional about providing a safe space for my clients, especially those who have experienced marginalization and societal oppression and I consistently strive to do so.

Weeks, months, or possibly years pass while ignoring a nagging sensation in our minds/bodies. The sensation is communicating to us that something is not right. When we listen, we might notice a few things. In our work, we might feel overwhelmed, dissatisfied, or worthless. In our day-to-day life, we might feel irritated, guilty, or uncertain. Maybe we notice overall feelings of hopelessness, worry, and fatigue. We may have chronic stress, depressive feelings, and anxiety. We want to be free of these feelings and have more meaning in our lives, but we don’t know how to start or what to do next.

Life is difficult (M. Scott Peck). I remember reading that in his book and thought yes, it is! And sometimes we don’t have the tools to manage the difficult times or move through and beyond them. That is why I became a therapist because life is difficult and sometimes, we need support and help to move forward. My goal is to establish a safe environment where adults and children can take the time to process difficulties in life. Through this process you will find your strengths, develop new ways of coping and discover new insights. I enjoy working with both children and adults in a variety of areas, including childhood and adult tra

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
