Therapy sessions with NIO Counseling are a non-judgmental environment and the client is not just another client. The individual or family blazes the trail and we are in the accompanying seat in reaching the goal of therapy, through clinical guidance that encourages all to thrive during and after therapy sessions. There is a focus on family systems theory and the unit's complex interaction as the basis for treatment. Anxiety, stress, fear, isolation, being overwhelmed, being out of control in everyday circumstances, and the feeling of loss or the unknown can be unbundled for a more productive and fulfilling living. Hope is here!

We live in stressful times and many of my clients come to me because I specialize in many areas and have years of counseling experience from a nonjudgemental Christian perspective.
I offer a safe and welcoming environment for struggling people. Because I specialize in a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, sexual addiction, and children, I am able to get to their issues through a variety of approaches. I seek to meet their needs in their timing but encourage them to make positive choices.

You might be here because you’re experiencing chronic stress, anxiety, overthinking, or feeling stuck. For many people, this shows up within relationships—feeling caught in patterns of conflict, disconnection, or uncertainty about what to do next. I enjoy working with individuals and couples who want to build more self-honoring communication, develop a clearer sense of identity, and navigate relationships and life transitions with greater clarity and integrity. You might be a good fit for this work if you find yourself stuck in repeated patterns, struggling to trust yourself or others, or feeling frustrated in your relationships.

As a Christian it's my delight to integrate the rich resources of faith with clients who share Christian faith OR for those who have been wounded through experiences with hurtful Christians and desire a place to process and heal its my delight to integrate that when appropriate as well.
As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) I work primarily with men who have cheated, committed infidelity, compulsively use porn/sex and want to heal their relationships and live free. If any of that sounds like you or your partner's situation there is a clear path forward to heal from both the cheating and the betrayal trauma it causes. I would be honored to help you and your partner find your footing and learn to walk that path of recovery. Also am a big believer in groups as a pathway toward growth and healing therefore run a low cost group for all my Sex Addicted clients who are available on Mondays at 12-130pm in-person.

For anxiety, we use biblical & therapeutic techniques to learn HOW to take thoughts captive, make them obedient & not allow anxiety to rule.
With couples, I implement the Gottman method. I help you learn how to communicate/conflict in a healthy way that brings you closer & builds intimacy and trust. I also use the prepare/enrich assessment to focus on every area of your relationship and improve where needed in a focused way. I will help you understand one another, even if you don't always agree.

And, while I draw inspiration from my Christian values, I am not a Christian counselor–though, I would be happy to offer this perspective regarding modern therapy to those interested.
Hello, and welcome to my profile. As a licensed mental health counselor associate, I focus primarily on anxiety-related disorders. Our worries can show up in a multitude of ways; from clinical anxiety, to codependency, perfectionism, or low self-esteem. I understand that each person's experience with anxiety is unique, I tailor my therapeutic approach to reinforce individual strengths and needs for the best possible outcome.

Your healing journey begins with trust. I believe that the same Divine Love and Wisdom who shaped the heart is the same Power that heals it. I offer a trauma-informed and faith-based approach to healing. Unhealed trauma is inevitably transferred. It disconnects individuals from their identity, impedes personality, while creating a longing for safety. I believe we all want freedom to be safe, authentic, and the courage to ask for what we want, and to say no to what we don’t. Together, we will explore your challenges while simultaneously developing healthy boundaries that foster personal and relational safety.

This world is problematic and stressful to navigate. An ideal client consists of being open to therapy. Having a therapeutic relationship that is built on trust and honesty. Being receptive to learning tools and techniques that will help them manage and/or alleviate increased mental health symptoms such as anxiousness, fear, guilt, depression, stress, relational issues, trauma, etc. Utilizing Genograms to help understand and identify patterns, genetic, medical, and mental social norms and cultural aspects of your family. Self-acceptance helps identify ways to manage challenges because it allows the person to know their limitations.

I love helping people work through the 'dirt' in their lives to have beautiful crop and gardens come from it! I work primarily helping those with trauma related to military service, chronic illness and family issues to find joy again in their lives, and see their blossom the way they have always wanted to. The dirtier the path, the better the overlook! I am professionally trained in trauma-focused EMDR, CBT, CPT, and ACT therapy protocols for PTSD, Anxiety, Depression and Chronic Health/Disabilities. I also work closely with military professionals struggling with post-deployment trauma, and crisis intervention.

Do you feel lost? What is your identity - your sense of self? Are you your own person, or are you someone else's? I hope in partnership with you to define who you are at your core. Whether you struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, or any other mental health symptom; our humanity is not just physical, but emotional as well. Thus, it is necessary for us to direct our attention to the wound in that child-self, an emotional wound that informs our mental health challenges. I will use the tools I have to bring an understanding to yourself, and to build coping and boundary-setting skills to put to practice that insight.

Reluctance in seeking help with current or past issues, can hinder us from becoming the best versions of our selves. Asking for and seeking help at times can feel overwhelming or embarrassing, resulting in irrational thinking that I don't need help and can/need to deal with these issues on my own and therefore, choosing instead to suffer in silence. There is a better way that only requires a commitment to attempt to face those challenges head on, knowing that possibility of becoming the best version of herself or healing from those things that have burdened you.

Christian Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?
Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?
Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?
While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?
The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
