Thirty four years ago, when I began to practice, I was fascinated by the resiliency of people individually, and their family systems. I have worked with people from many different backgrounds, with many different challenges. My approach to therapy is down-to-earth and uncomplicated. Most often I lean heavily into Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Neurofunctional Therapies. I look at challenges from several viewpoints and work with the client to help them identify their strengths within to address their own unique concerns.

When you're facing uncertainty, struggling in relationships, experiencing grief, or finding that deeply held beliefs no longer serve you, life can feel overwhelming.
My style is grounded in the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship can foster lasting change. In therapy, I integrate trauma-informed and evidence-based practices. I will help you learn new coping skills while honoring the mind-body connection. I believe in the power of creativity and use art-based and experiential interventions in my work.

I work with adults, artists, and witchy folks navigating burnout or grief and loss.
I work best with artistic empath’s who are burnt out both personally and creatively. If you’re feeling uninspired or just “going through the motions” and are craving a shift in your life, we may be a good fit. I work well with individuals who have not felt traditional talk therapy was helpful. While we use talk therapy, I engage with multiple creative outlets to enrich the process and go deeper in a way that helps you feel more seen. If you’re an empathic daydreamer who wants their whimsy to be honored, and explored but you still need someone to ground you and remind you of your goals, consider contacting me to see if we vibe!

I strongly believe that everyone has the right to have a place where they feel safe, unjudged, and themselves, and can trust the person they are sharing their heaviest and most personal issues with, and if that is anywhere, it should be in the therapy space. While I am trained in multiple therapeutic modalities, my approach to therapy is all about the individual. I tailor treatment to each individual, pulling from all the modalities as needed to make sure I am using what works best for each person and playing to their strengths to help them heal and cope with all aspects of life in a healthier way.

I work with individuals who want to understand the deeper emotional and relational patterns driving life's challenges, particularly those struggling with unwanted behaviors (compulsivity, emotional reactivity, avoidance, etc.) Together, we identify the strengths and resources that have helped you persevere. Then explore the painful aspects of life that have contributed to behaviors that no longer serve your goals or well-being. By developing a deeper understanding of the roots of your struggles, we can create a path toward lasting growth, healing, and meaningful change.

I specialize in helping you carry the grief that comes from the death of a loved one, but also the grief from what should have been, the grief from a life transition, and the grief that is real but unacknowledged by our society, or sometimes even our family.
I help by letting you have a space where you can express yourself. I'm here to listen and am interested in hearing your reality while at the same time being available to share some of what we know about the human condition. I offer a sense of hope for those that have been to other therapy and have found no help there.

I have specialties in existentialism, such as grief and loss, life transitions, spirituality and quarter-life/mid-life crises.
I have worked with a variety of different clients with unique and diverse walks of life. I became a counselor because I believe in people's ability to grow, learn and heal. I am here to help guide and facilitate that growth, to meet you where you are to help you heal, learn and grow. I provide a space of non-judgment, that is safe to walk on your path of discovery and recovery. Life can be a difficult journey at times and for different reasons, but it helps to have someone walk along side you as you persevere through these trials. I believe in hope, that even in our darkest of days, hope is on the horizon.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
