I enjoy helping people struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief, loss childhood trauma and transitions. I see children as well as adults. So much of what we have experienced in life is carried within. Working to identify, label and feel what we carry allows for it to be released. I see mental health as having layers, so as we grow and release what we carry we are lighter and healthier for our work. I make suggestions and share the impressions I get in order help clients find their paths. What works for one may not work for another. I've seen a lot of goodness come from this work and love doing it.

For 20+ years I have been providing individual psychotherapy. You might be thinking about therapy because you have a sense that something is wrong or something hurts. Sometimes all you know is you have not felt happy for a long time. Perhaps you are experiencing confusion about a relationship or are having anxiety or depression. You have Bipolar Disorder or ADHD and want help beyond medications. Perhaps you are going through a transition such as divorce. You may find yourself up against the "same old problems" at work or home. You may be trying to manage trauma. I can help.

I believe that a solid, collaborative relationship between client and therapist makes a powerful difference. As a team, we will find the parts of your history that hinder you, and the strengths that you may not know. With this understanding, I can help you write a new chapter in a far better story.
Clients tell me that they feel genuine care and understanding from me, plus insight that creates meaning from the past and hope for the future.

What is the goal of life? It is to be happy and to build a life worth living. We become happy when we are able to develop true, authentic life, self-connected with others, and undefeated by our circumstances. When we work hard to reach our goals, we feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. In turn, this spurs a stronger desire and commitment to continue to make progress and deepen our personal mission in life. I believe the purpose of counseling is to support and encourage this lifelong journey.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviors that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). It affects children, kids, teens and adults. Often the person carries out the behaviors to get rid of the obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief. Not performing the obsessive rituals can cause great anxiety. A person's level of OCD can be anywhere from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, it can destroy a person's capacity to function at work, at school or even to lead a comfortable existence in the home.
