My passion is working with adults in individual therapy focusing on anxiety , eating disorders, and life transitions.
There are many barriers to creating meaningful change in our lives. It can feel difficult and overwhelming to identify what keeps us stuck. We may find it challenging to acknowledge our own limitations, accept our emotions, and build on our strengths. My goal is to join you in exploring your values and creating action steps towards a more fulfilling life.

If you've ever felt uncomfortable with mental health diagnosis and thought "there's more to me than a diagnosis", you might be looking for an Enneagram Informed Therapist. I am a licensed Marriage & Family therapist, as well as an Enneagram coach who combines Western and Eastern ways of thinking to address mental health. For 20+ years I have been providing individual psychotherapy. You might be thinking about therapy because you have a sense that something is wrong or something hurts. Sometimes all you know is you have not felt happy for a long time. Perhaps you are experiencing confusion about a relationship or are having anxiety or depression. You have Bipolar Disorder or ADHD and want help beyond medications. Perhaps you are going through a transition such as divorce. You may find yourself up against the "same old problems" at work or home. You may be trying to manage trauma. I can help.

I focus on working with individuals experiencing grief and loss, life stressors and transitions, poor self-esteem, and difficulties with managing symptoms of depression and anxiety .
My name is Megan Dillon and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been a practicing clinical social worker for 15 years supporting clients in jails, courtrooms, hospitals, primary care clinics and emergency rooms. The breadth of my practice has shown me that people want to experience peace, feel self-worth, and have meaningful connections. These desires are not unique but are the bricks that pave the pathway to healing and connecting with our best selves. Navigating the healing journey to true self-discovery is unique to each person. Thus, there is no one size fits all method of counseling.

The last few years has brought on a large amount of change. Change that may have caused you to feel isolated, anxious or even scared. The loss of control has left many of us yearning to hug friends and/or family for comfort. My hope is to establish a safe, judgment free environment for you to explore the grief and anxiety you may feel. It is in these contexts that we can begin to discover new levels of honesty, awareness, and hopefully self-compassion and a greater sense of alignment with our new realities. I take the role of active listener, reflecting back to you patterns or themes that I notice in the stories or experiences you

Working with a broad spectrum of clients dealing with such issues as grief, loss, trauma, shame, depression, anxiety , stress management, identity issues, and relational problems, my desire is to help them to move beyond merely coping with these issues and to find true healing and freedom and, ultimately, to live more whole, fulfilling, and flourishing lives.
*Currently accepting new patients* Hi, there! I'm Ian. If you are feeling down, anxious, or stuck or are struggling in your relationships, I would like to help. I believe that meaningful personal connection—feeling understood, accepted, & loved—is at the heart of well-being, so my desire is to provide a genuine, warm, & safe presence in which my clients feel comfortable sharing their stories & exploring how their past has shaped them & their experience of the present. Though I use a psychodynamic approach, I tailor my approach to meet my clients' needs, integrating techniques from various approaches like CBT, gestalt, & mindfulness.

In general, I work with people who want improve their self-esteem and self-worth; overcome feelings of anxiety , depression and loneliness; recover from past traumas or abuse; and improve the quality of their relationships.
My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and relational, which means I'm interested in helping you safely explore the ways in which your personal history, from early childhood onward, may still be influencing your emotions, coping patterns and relationships. I'll help you tend to your feelings and memories so that you'll come to know yourself better and develop the capacity for compassionate self-care. Throughout our time together, I'll pay special attention to our therapeutic connection, as I believe our relationship can serve as a rich resource for your authentic recovery and well-being.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
