Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed, lonely or not good enough? You are not alone. In fact, females are twice as likely to experience depression than males. Whether you are struggling with trauma , anxiety, parenting stress, relationship issues or body image, you can feel better. The more we realize our power and our right to set boundaries, value ourselves and choose the path of our life, the more happiness we cultivate.

Sessions may involve education around trauma and your nervous system, self regulation tools, body-based techniques for grounding and emotional release, self reflection and meditation, intentional breath work, physical yoga postures or intuitive movement, and/or mudra (hand gestures) and mantra in addition to talking it out and building a relationship.
As a licensed mental health counselor, I specialize in working with emerging and younger adults (16-40) of all identified genders who are survivors of traumatic/adverse life events and who struggle with intense emotions and impulse control. I also work with sexual/gender identity related struggles and am happy to assist you in accessing gender affirming care. I come to our work together combining existentialism, behavioral theories, as well as Yogic philosophies. My approach primarily draws from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and the Trauma Conscious Yoga Method in a way that meets you on your unique journey.

This has given me the experience and ability to treat various mental health issues, including trauma , addiction, eating disorders, etc.
You may be noticing that you are struggling with the stress and anxiety that life brings. You also may see changes in your mood, motivation, and self-worth because of it. Naturally, that may spill over into your work, personal relationships, and family relationships. You may also resort to unhealthy behaviors like substances, food, video games, etc. just to feel better, or not feel at all, only for a short while. You are not alone in how you are feeling, and there is also room for you to grow and heal to be your best and healthy self. You deserve better, and I can help you get to a place where you start to give yourself better.

As a trained art therapist, sometimes we may use art as a tool to help with stress relief, anxiety, depression, trauma and loss, and gain insight into a problem.
Everyone has the ability to transform and grow into their fullest potential. I bring my expertise, compassion and intuitive wisdom to help you find the courage to change. I create a trusting and empathetic space in which you can feel safe to explore what ever brings you in to therapy. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, with a special interest in individuals who have experienced loss or other trauma , relationship challenges, addictive behaviors, or low self-esteem. I also assist people in a life transition or who are exploring issues of identity.

My life experiences combined with my training give me a compassionate understanding of people and their struggles. Mother of six, one killed in an accident, grandmother of seven, one developmentally delayed. These traumas, though sad, have been great teachers. I use humor and common sense in my own humanistic style. Improving your sense of humor will help with personal growth, relationships, grief, pain, and your emotional and physical health. Designing Therapeutic Gardens gives me a sense of the cycle of life and I use Healing Horticulture with some of my clients.

The world we live in is fast paced and in a state of constant change that can add complexities and challenges to our lives, our relationships, our internal thoughts and our emotional states that we can’t anticipate and may not be ready for. When things become complex it can be helpful to have a therapist to support your growth into the person you want to be in an empathetic and judgment-free environment. Just like every person, your story and life circumstances are unique, they brought you to the exact place you are at today.

I believe that individuals possess the power to change, and that it is my role to help you become aware of how to understand and utilize that power. This philosophy of empowerment accepts the individual as the driving force in change. Further, this approach brings about effective long-term results, when individuals discover how to utilize their own inner strengths and gifts rather than having to rely on others for solutions to life's challenging circumstances. I believe empowerment is a gift for life. I look forward to helping clients reach their goals.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
