Compassionate listening with a comforting environment to be heard is what my clients experience. I concentrate on the heartache of grief/loss, infertility, managing everyday stress, and concerns around adoption reunion. Are you one in the twilight years of life reflecting on the past and wanting to share life experiences and plans for a legacy. I am here to listen and reassure you are not alone. A faith tradition can be vital to ones healing. Christianity is of personal importance to me and if desired will bring that perspective into our meetings and can offer prayer for strength and comfort.

Are you tired of feeling alone, like no one understands the pain you carry around? Do you wish you could feel joy again? Does the thought of someone bring up painful memories, making it hard to enjoy the happy moments you had with them? Do you find yourself feeling exhausted? Unfortunately, grief accumulates and weighs you down the more losses you experience without processing them in a healthy way. I established Peace After Loss to assist individuals grappling with the painful memories of shattered hopes, dreams, and expectations in their relationships with loved ones or not-so-loved ones.

Counseling is sacred work. It is through the vehicle of relationship, with both God and others, that humans were intended to experience restoration. While indeed relationships can be a source of pain, they are also a powerful force for resiliency. Through the therapeutic relationship, I enjoy coming alongside clients on their journey by providing a safe and compassionate space for exploration. Together we will go beyond just symptom management and work toward understanding the root of what you are experiencing. Whatever you are facing, you were never meant to do so in isolation.

Life can be hard. It can be helpful to have someone to talk to while working through a challenging issue, in order to continue growing and developing as a person or in relationship with another. Together, we can explore new ways to approach your concerns, look deeper for underlying causes and meaning, brainstorm realistic ways to begin making changes, stay motivated, and practice holding on less tightly to those aspects of life that are out of one's control. I offer nearly 20 years of experience helping a diverse variety of people, from under three years old to over 80 years old.

Take your next step. Experience what Counseling and Hypnotherapy can do for you. Life often demands more than we are able to handle on our own. Although we do our best, we may reach a point where we feel emotionally overwhelmed, spiritually adrift; stuck in the past, afraid of the future; unable to resolve our issues or move forward in life. If this sounds familiar, recognizing this is the first step. Reaching out for help starts your journey toward healing and creating the life you desire.

I'm naturally interested in how people experience their lives and how they achieve self fulfilment and secure happy family and personal relationships. What I do is help people realize their goals by finding out what they want and need out of life, and then work with them to solve the parts of their lives that cause them frustration or pain. My approach helps individuals and couples problem solve and identify what is blocking them from creating a great relationship or what is stopping them from moving on with their lives after a crisis, loss or divorce.

The work we do is collaborative; it requires us both to be present and fully committed to your journey. My clients are honest about their strengths, virtues, successes and growth areas; curious about their emotions, triggers, and patterns; and committed to designing their lives in a meaningful way. Depending on their inner resources, needs, and concerns, I utilize a tailored, strengths-based approach to promote useful life goals through insight and action. This can be achieved by integrating a variety of modalities, both evidence and non-evidence based; and drawing from my personal, professional and spiritual background.

I provide psychotherapy, consultation and referral services for adults, and play therapy for children. Anxiety and depression impact most people at some point in their lives. In my work with patients, I strive to listen deeply. In my experience, being truly listened to is rare, and helps a lot. Being with someone who strives to understand you without judgment increases a capacity to feel more love and satisfaction. I know that disturbing thoughts, feelings and behaviors have meaning. When these meanings can be understood, life starts to feel better. This work can help you to begin to heal, but it is a process.

Marriage and family life can present a series of challenges that at times can seem overwhelming. For each stage of the marriage relationship there are a set of challenges that help transition the relationship to a closer more intimate bonding. Instead of ending the marriage identify what stage you are in and the challenges you need to meet as a couple. The same can be true for child and parent relationships, different stages represent different challenges and skills to acquire. Knowing when to let go and when to stand firm as a parent.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
